Question: has anybody who has had their dash replaced for missing pixels ever had the problem re-occur, or are the new (grey face) clusters immune from this problem?

I think so ... check with "ard" ... I think he has had his replaced twice and they are beginning to fail yet again ... Unfortunately, that's why I am considering paying $ 300.00 instead of having the dealer do it for free ... it seems to me, that BMW doesn't fix the source of the problem ... At least, that's my impression.

Im getting my camera back this Sunday. I found out douchebage took my camera on his vacation and was too lazy to downloaad the pics from the camera's memory card. he's doing it only now. AZZ HOLE!
PS For those who don't get the camera connection or should I say ball busting, it has to do with my Dinan S3 thread.

Nope, not me. Replaced once at 49k right before the original warranty was up.

PS Photoshop can be a great tool for documenting intermittant pixel failures....Oh, but you need a camera.

Mine is Sept 02. 25k on the clock.

Pixels failing in both parts of the cluster - the OBC and the odometer.

The car is out of warranty but my 3rd party warranty should cover it. They said, however, that they could "repair it" by sending it away to Germany!

How long would that take?!?

I thought that the best thing was just to replace the whole binnacle. I'll chase them down.

I have an '00 with 44k and it's now happening to me! Two very small vertical columns in the red LED's are missing. I too have an extended warranty that transferred with the car and I think I'll press them on this issue.
Otherwise, a complete PITA and I cannot believe I have to waste my time/energy on this crap.

Is Dinan the cause???

Maybe it's coincidence, but I started having problems with the pixels on my dash immediately after getting my car back from Dinan. I took it to the Mt View shop for a 30K I2 service.
