Borrowing Peake Code reader (SoCal)?

Anybody in the socal area want to lend me there Peake Code Reader for an hour or so? The M5 is acting a little funny

I'll buy you lunch and help you out with gas money.

Don't need it today but the sooner the better, or this saturday morning would be nice being that my mechanic buddy will be on site with tools.

I am located in the Temecula/Murrieta area and would not mind picking it up/dropping it off with a deposit from you either.

Make sure you leave time for 'pull codes, then BUY Parts from an open BMW dealer, then install'

I saw your post on the SES light... it can be so many things, you need the codes first.

Of course, as so many do, you can call peake up here in Nor Cal and order the reader with next day shipping, have it Friday.... I did it, and like others kicked myself for not just ordering it at my leisure...

If you get the recall software flash you can use any OBD-II reader, i.e. free rental from Autozone.

I wont be able to make it to the meet on the 18th, and I got the autozone rental OBDII code reader but it keeps saying error, try again. And just to make sure we were using it correctly we tested it on the tahoe and it worked perfectly

If you have not had the OBD II upgrade, you will not be able to use "regular" OBD II scanner.

Are we discussing the recent recall related to CEL's being thrown for O2 sensors? The one that the letter went out about?

Hi Ben,
I am not sure about the O2 sensors. I am talking about the Emissions recall instituted by BMW because the ECUs are not communicating with many of the Smog testing sites in certain states. If they can't communicate, you cannot pass the smog test. Basically this "upgrade" makes it possible for the smog testing computers to read the info from your car. BTW, this is a service recall so is done free of charge. See the thread.

Cheers,
Brian
