Just got a new Ipod 5g 80GB player and was googling for a low cost way to interface it with my M5. I currently have the Bliztsafe adapter which has an AUX in but only for audio. Was looking for complete integration. I came across this site, http://www.intravention.co.uk/. Looks interesting and was wondering if anyone on this board has heard of it? I searched the forum but did not have any hits.
I'm looking into the same issue. The competition seems to be between the Intravee II and the DICE. I plan to talk to Martin Bishop at BimmerNav who sells the Intravee II, but is also a good technical reference.
I have it and like it, just the install and working out the kinks can take some time. I had to get an Analog to Digital converter and then splice into some wires that power the amp to get power to the ADC. If you have a M5 that has the 6 pin adapter for the CD changer the install is plug-and-play.
I also had to get an usb->serial cable to be able to connect to the Intravee II and change a setting because it wasn't really working with my stereo until a setting was changed. Now that I have it working, I love it.
Yes. It connects to the cd changer connections in the same manner as the Sirius or Dice.
As for plug and play. ONLY 2001 and earlier M5s with DSP need a little modification to get any ipod type system to operate correctly. This is due to a different type of audio connection for the CD changer. All 2002 and up M5s it is a simple plug and play.
To "go back"
you can just set the clock key to go to any level you want. Then just press that to do a quick jump to that menu. I have mine set at the now playing screen. Then pressing the clock gets you back to that menu.
I just installed the Intravee II last night after picking up the unit from BimmerNav and the Alpine unit from a local stereo store. The install couldn't have been easier on my 03. It was exactly like Martin demonstrated in the video! I would highly recommend this setup to anyone interested in iPod integration. Sound quality is better than I expected.
I would be interested to see pics of how people completed the install of the three components. I have some ideas on how I'm going to do it but there is no reason to re-create the wheel if I don't have too.

What i did was to velcro the various components in the same compartment as the NAV player. I then ran the ipod cable out throw the ****s and put the ipod on the shelf area. I then attached a velcro strap onto the shelf that wraps around the ipod. Seems to keep it pretty secure. The only issue is if you have a newer ipod and you do not use it for like 14 hrs, it goes into deep sleep and the only way to awaken it is to actually press the front controls of the ipod. If not, you will get the No Ipod msg on the NAV screen from the IV. Crutchfield does make a cable that would allow you to put the ipod in the car but I found that with this cable there was some interference/hissing.
