Feedback on potential MY1999 M5 purchase?

I was wondering if someone could run a quick car fax report for me?

          3 owners.

          No accidents reported.

It was auctioned as a "fleet" vehicle...sounds weird

It also failed CA emisions late in its life twice..

I would get more info on the car, maybe a BMW service history..>>>

Mine had 3 owners, and was listed as "fleet vehicle" too. My guess is that that's like a used car dealer?

I don't want to be difficult but Carfax is a paid service that cracks down on forums when people offer to run free Carfaxes.

Maybe someone can give some feedback in their own words on any thoughts or opinions they have just from seeing the chassis number?

Watch out for Carbon Build Up on a 1999. Could be the reason why it failed emissions. Also, check the production date (pre or post engine change). Good luck.

Well...I change my sig all the time...and this one isn't really *appropriate* for me, but I occasionaly get nostalgic for daze that I no longer (or shouldn't) remember. Plus, I'm a huge Hunter Thompson fan. (Hmmmm...what does that say about someone when their favorite books are: The Bible, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, The Tao of Poker, Vacations in Hell {P.J. O'Rourke}, and The Art of War? ) But, yes, I see your point...we must make that trip again. To stay true to the book, you should probably lop the top of that Imola.

Brooklyn, I agree with Kees comment. I very much appreciate the posting! Someone PM'd me the info...

Laid back, I could only hope to have a car that soon
Car in question has Dinan CAI, Exhuast, SSK, new factory clutch and Dinan Flywheel, Dinan chip, and front strut brace. New brakes and belts, replaced MAFs.
Seller is a BMW Master Tech at a Dinan auth dealer, and installed all items himself.
Asking price is $28k, he mentioned he has had it awhile, but isn't in dieing need to sell.
          Thoughts?
