Crack in front bumper

I hit a curb a few days ago and I immediately got out of the car to check for damage and all i could see were some minor scratches underneath. No biggie. Today, I was washing the car and I noticed a crack in the bottom left part of the front bumper.

From further than 12 inches away, it is almost impossible to see the crack but up close it is visible. I hate knowing it is there but I can live with it since its barely visible.

My question is, will it eventually get worse? or am I safe if I leave it alone? I hate to replace a whole front bumper just for the crack.

Thanks

Can you tell if it is all the way through? I think that if it is hardly noticeable I would just keep an eye on it to make sure that it does not get any worse. If it does it might be easy to repair it and respray the bumper (also to help with the rock chips...).

I have a slight crack in mine that has been there for over a year now, I'll get around to fixing it eventually--I wouldn't sweat it too much, not many folks get past the M5 badges to even notice mine!!

If its really an eyesore for you, replace the front bumper @ $400 + paint...But save the old bumper and use it on longer trips (back up), i got mine repainted for rock chips and scratches and got the custom clear bra...now after long trips i just get a damp towel and wipe of the bumper looks brand new again...

I doubt it will get much worse over time...no biggie. If it was my car, I would probably wait until the front bumper got more wear and tear and chips, then later down the road buy a new bumper and have it painted and installed...that is, assuming you plan on keeping the car for a long time.

Yea I do plan on keeping the car for a long time so I will probably just keep an eye on the scratch to make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Thank you guys for the input.

Nothing that has to be fixed in an urgent manner. Do it whenever you get around to it

I have a very similar crack on the same side of my front bumper in the same location. I was pretty upset after it happened, but then a few months later I rolled up onto one of those parking bricks that was taller than usual and it pushed the lower portion up into the top and now its stuck there. The best part is it's even less visible now than it was then.

Funny how many people have cracked bumpers and are living with it. I too have the same problem after hitting a jackrabbit at about 75 MPH. It was barely noticeable until I removed my bumper to repair it underneath and by doing so the crack separated more once the bumper was off the car. I used duct tape to reinforce it underneath and discovered damage in another area of my bumper that was also duct taped before me! Anyway my plan is to live with it, let it get abused some more (road rash and such), then just replace the whole thing with a new bumper and paint.

In the space of one week I managed to crack both sides in separate kerb graunching incidents.

But as others have said its no big deal - really. (I have to keep reminding myself!)

Thing is If I had it repaired i'd just do it again.

A lot of the car parks here at sport centre, shopping centre have high kerbs, shortish parking bays and odd diamond shaped flower beds with high kerbs.

In the dark its almsot impossible to judge.

Didn't have this problem with the Range Rover I sold to buy the M5!

I plan to leave it basically, but I will check it from time to time.

Rgds

Martin
