Advice on minor damage to fender?

Last night I was driving pretty fast on wet roads while it was raining. Yes, I know it was dumb. I lost control and hit a curb at about 30 mph on my front right tire. I heard a loud scraping sound when I hit and as you can imagine I just about started crying because I would almost rather get injured than my car (not really but you know what i mean). I pulled over and did not even want to go look at the front right bumber for fear that it might be scratched like crazy. I looked and there was no visible scrapes at all. I could feel some scrapes on the bottom of the front right bumper but there were already scrapes there.

However, today I noticed that a piece of rubber on the fender in front of the front right tire looked out of place. I do not know how long it has been this way, i'm guessing it was because of the curb i hit. The piece of rubber is sticking out and on the left side its tucked in nicely like it should be. Has anyone had this happen before? What can i do? Is it difficult to push back in? Any advice appreciated.

Please don't mind the dirt/mud.

Make sure your suspension is alighned. The rubber is supposed to be there.

It appears to be normal but if it is out of alignment from your view point you could locate the screws that hold the inner fender and under guard and see if you can get some adjustment from loosening them and moving the piece back into place. Look for some sort of wear or placement marks to see if you can move it back to that location. BTW you have a couple of heavy grooves in that rotor Good luck.

I would definetely say you need to get an alignment checked and probably done. Also, as mentioned the rotor has some heavy grooves in it.

You should push the rubber back under the edge of the fender ... I replaced the very same piece a couple months ago ... just work it back in place with your hands ... (check the left side for comparison).

Then, get a wheel alignment ... don't guess that it wasn't affected ... IT ain't worth it to let it go unchecked ...

That piece of rubber is out on all 5 of the m5s in my parking garage. I don't think it gets tucked in.

Rust, small rocks, grit ... sometimes the wrong pads.

Also, you might want to get the wheel checked to see if it is out of round.

30mph into a curb is gonna bend something. Fender, bumper, wheel or suspension.

Check your alignment (get 'before and after' numbers) and check the wheel for run out, etc.

Are you talking about that freakin' thunderstorm on Tuesday? I burned up my truck motor over the weekend so my beast is temporarily my daily driver.

Of course the second day I take it to work we get 5.5 inches (yeah, five and a half!) in a couple of hours.

So do you care to meet the rest of the Austin M5'ers? I see Scott and Rick from here at most events. Hope to see you at them soon, come over and say hi sometime.

Clay
