Alternate Brake Disc (Rotor) Manufacturer?

Hi all,

I have just installed the DS3000's into my car... man they are good pad... stop on a 10c piece. But of course with good pads comes harsh rotor wear, so I am looking around for an replacement to the OEM Euro rotors that I have now.

Here in Australia they are about AUD$550 each, which here is rather expensive. If for example I had an AMG E55 I could get aftermarket DBA rotors for about $95 each., but alas I cannot find anyone who makes discs to fit.

I did some research this morning and have found that it looks like the OEM discs are made by Lucas-Girling (Now known as TRW Lucas) but their online catalogue is password protected . The other chance would be Otto Zimmermann. I've emailed them both to see what I can find.

So here the question

Does anyone (with euro cars) know of an aftermarket brake disc for our cars?

Cheers,
Aaron

there was a thread once discussing the possibility of 745i rotors fitting the M5?? Not sure if there was any conclusion - I, too, am looking for a more economical rotor replacement option. Not that I need it yet, but just a matter of time the way I brake!! :-)

Aaron

G'day, I priced discs at $900 ish each from a dealer, I would be happier with $550 you are talking about, would you care to share name of the retailer here.

I don't need them yet either I just want to be prepared.

Thanks

I have found a source for the Euro rotors for $209.25 each - $419.50 a pair. I will have them later this week or early next week. Once I confirm they are correct I will let everyone know where I got them and how to order!

Those are the part numbers that I ordered. They match the realoem.com numbers. I think they will be correct!

Yep... what what we really need is a non OEM source... Is anyone here located in germany (or who can speak german) who could ring TRW Lucas and Otto-Zimmermann and see if they make anything and thier associated part numbers?

Right.... I have found the Otto-Zimmermann part number for replacement discs for our car.

I have my contact here in Australia getting a price for me, but the part numbers are

Left: 150.3415.75
Right: 150.3416.75

These are replacement for the Euro rotor, which is far superior to that of the rotor used on the USA cars, but if of course completely interchangable.

Can someone do me a favour and ring Worldpac (the USA distributor) and see how much they are there? Their number is 800-888.9982

http://www.worldpac.com/cust_first.html

TRW have not got back to me as yet, but I rang my wholesaler here and they said that they dont have anything listed, but I have not given up. I cannot find a contact number for TRW in the states though .... can anyone provide any assistance??
