Another question about OIL

We have been talking for a long time and i continuous with a question?
Why all 1999 and 2000 need to use 10W60 and the 2001 5W30?
I need to replace my oil can I use 5W30 in my 2000??
Also Castrol have new oil, it’s competition and for high RPM, it's a 0W30.is this good for our beast?? No one here in BMW knows anything about this new oil. Has anyone heard about it?
I want to put the 0W30.wich will be the problem if i have??

0w-30?

I would stay away from the 0w-30. The safe bet is to stick with the 10w-60, especially in your climate of 110+ degrees F. If I remember correctly, your car was made before June, so it should have the 10w-60 anyway.

As to what problems will you have with the 0w-30, who knows? I guess my thinking is why take the risk. If you can't find the 10w-60 near you, I would guess that it's worth the trouble to get some shipped from the US or Europe. That could be much cheaper in the long run as opposed to rebuilding your motor.

If you do go with the 0w-30, keep us posted on the results.
