Don't Call Me a Traitor, It's an M5 Wearing Different Clothing

I did it yesterday. I ordered a Z8.

It has the same drive train as the M5 (but with rack and pinion steering), the same size wheels and tires as the M5, same engine, transmission, and rear end gearing as the M5. Call it a close cousin. It just wears a different skin (albeit a little faster!!!)

Therefore, I hope I'm still related to you guys. This is a great site and I appreciate all of the participation and enthusiasm. I hope to continue to receive and give my opinions, for what they're worth.

Thanks to all for your help and support in my decision.

a traitor? hardly.

congrats- you know it shares parts not only with the M5 and 5 series but also 750. and some parts are wholly unique- like an aluminum frame that is stiffer than most cars steel frames- and the information center. enjoy the car- its an amazing ride.

Dan,
I didnt know you were getting a Z8- I thought you were getting a 360. Eitherway- thats fantastic for you.

Its what's under the hood that makes it the beast...and we all share that...congrats and a Z8 owner need not be to humble amongst this crowd.

BTW...Dan, I assume you are still keeping the M5?

Z8's rock

Passed a Z8 on CA Route 880 today - great machine!

I'm assuming that you won't have to pay the $125K uplift that they had here in Silicon Va$$ey this past summer!

Did you get any type of guesstimate as to month/year of delivery?

Welcome in the Z circle DrRob, good choice
I assume you picked a black one -> very stylish but you know it will be a real pain to keep clean
