Also, one last stupid question. Does this have a spare tire? From what read on Edmunds, it appears that it doesn't. I've never heard of a car without a spare and not have run-flats.
The M-Mobility system is the spare ... so to speak ...

Also keep in mind that, if upon opening it turns out that you need a flywheel you will add $$$ to the cost.

Yes, they come with no tire- and no run flats. Buy a spare front wheel and put it in the trunk.

Is the flywheel replacement common? Usually they just get resurfaced from my experience.

Search.

You will find 20 posts, or you can base your decision on one or two folks who happen to see this thread ..

The BMW dual mass FW can be resurfaced, but any more that light damage it is recommended that it be replaced.

How much damage on the flywheel in the car? Unknowable until removed.

This is a great thread people. Can someone recommend a board member who really has experience with parts, prices and other FAQs involved when buying a used M5? Also the model year differences and little nuances that meake each year unique would be great, i.e. I see very few angel eyes on 2000's? I'm making the decision to buy now and coming from an american performance realm where parts are cheap and 400hp is easy to come by. But the allure of the M5 is like a disease! And I got it bad. lol. Any links would be great, thanks.

Welcome-

Here the deal- there is no 'one member' with all the answers! You need to nail down the process- and use the many posts to figure this out.

DavidS has a great post on what to look for when test driving. I've posted on CPOs, many have posted on inspections, PPIs etc. On the question of differences between model years- extensive posts.

The important thing is that different folks have a different view on each issue and no one view is the whole truth.

Do searches- use """ quotes around phrases and you will find that your common questions have come up. "Model Year differences" or "MY Differences", etc. Also, keep in mind that if you find a car that isn't close by, ask if members know about it-someone may even do a quick driveby for you.

Enjoy

A
