Alarm & hood switch.

My alarm goes off randomly when it is hot outside. I fiddled with the hood sensor and suspect that may be the problem.
Any problem if I just disable the switch by uncliping the power lead to it?

No problem with doing that (other than the obvious that the hood won't be protected). FYI, it's also a ~30 part, maybe a bit less if I remember correctly.

You can most certainly bypass the switch. However, it's a "normally open" type of switch, which means when the hood closes, the circuit cecomes closed.

So to bypass the switch you need to jump the two wires with a paperclip. Don't forget to wrap tightly with electrical tape.

Where is the hood switch on the beast? I suspect my random alarm activation may be caused by this as well.

Thanks!

Same problem I had. The switch is located on the driver's side, mounted on the front side of the cabin filter.

Check the part of the hood where the sensor touch's, maybe its worn enough to allow the switch not to fully depress? Just a thought?

Did this fix it for you?

I have been having a similar problem. Alarm goes off randomly after it sets for a while (a couple of hours or so). Took it to the dealer and they said all the sensors checked out and there was nothing they could do.

Try disconnecting the hood switch. It worked for me. I didn't need to jump the wires however.
