Troubleshooting PDC?

I realized my PDC Suddenly stopped working tonight. I had driven this car in downtown san diego and went through a pretty bumpy street. When i got home to back into my garage, the PDC light doesnt come on when in R and i hear no sound from the sensors so i assume the whole system is somehow not working. I played around with it for sometime restarting the car, putting it in R and such but no luck. Any suggestions??

Fuse?
Did you also manually try the PDC button? If so, did the PDC light on the button turn on?

OK, so no green light on the button after pressing it?

And just to confirm, did you try to track down the fuse (I imagine that there would be a separate circuit for it, hence its own fuse).

I don't have my manual accessible today, do you have yours handy, I'm sure the fuse locations will be there.

The whole PDC system is wired in series, which means that if one component is loose or not connected the whole system will not work. Check ALL sensors to be sure they are connected. That might mean jacking the car up and checking the connections behind the bumpers.

Ok, false alarm. I went to start my car this morning to take it out. Put it in R and the PDC lit up and it works again. That was close. Thanks guys for the input.

Hmmm... glad it's working again. I wonder what could have disabled it though, after years of use, I've not had that happen to my PDC.

To the wise and the great:

If I'm reading this right if one sensor is not working then the WHOLE of the PDC system fails to work?

The reason I ask is that my PDC has not been working for the last 8 or 9 months (front or rear although when selecting reverse I do get the initial continuous tone and the button flashes so not a fuse issue), but it's not something that I ever rely on ... I like to think my parking skills have been fine tuned over many years of living in London in the past and using a company car to park in the tightest of spaces.

Today I decided to identify which sensor was not working, therefore with key in position 2 without starting the car I put the car in reverse, and one by one listened for the ticking sound of all the sensors.

The very last one I checked (front right) was silent, so at least I know the culprit, so the question is : if this one sensor has failed the whole system won't work.....? Is that correct ..?
