Hey all !.... so my 03 M5 will be arriving this week > i live in Los Angeles and the car has been CPO'd > i normally take my e34 M5 to the M-shop - (which i love) but i have to think now about the mods i install and how they could effect my warranty....!?!?! i assumed i would take the car for CPO work at Beverly Hills BMW> happens to be the closest to where i live>.... I'm planning on putting the following MODS a week after i get the car at my ind. shop > (M-shop) Rogue SSK - AA- Intakes , Discovery Chip, UF Motorsport Intake Air Temp. sensor relocation kit, and Evosport Underdrive pulleys> so i started thinking about how this will effect my CPO ....so i called up Beverly Hills BMW and spoke to the SA.....OUCHHHHHH > i assumed the run-around but damnnnn....its like i was talking to a lifeless robot, !!!! only knowing the words- aftermarket....not-coverd....i decided to say thanks for the info and ended the call. i assumed these mods would effect the CPO but i hear of people having good relationships with their dealers and getting things covered under warranty while having mods.... so does anyone know or have a good contact-relationship with any dealership in the Los Angeles area, or the surrounding areas (would be willing to drive if i found a good SA/dealership out there) iv dealt with Beverly Hills BMW before with my e34 M5 for minor things and swore them off but now that i have a new e39 M5 with a CPO just starting....i don't want to throw it out the window-- just a little concerned... should i do these mods, or am i just going to screw the CPO...??!?! it is my car...i couldn't imagine owning an M5 and not modding it EVER just because of a potential CPO but i also don't want to do anything to jeopardize my CPO as well..>> UGHHHHH !!!!! why do the dealerships make this SOOOO HARD !!!! i also asked about Dinan work and he clearly started ANY after market work effects the CPO....DINAN , ROGUE, AA,....doesn't matter.... and iv read conflicting threads about DINAN work and it being covered and NOT being covered.....very frustrating to say the least. so what do you all think out there from your own experience...? and does anyone have a good source for a dealership or a name they recommend/trust for a SA here in the LA area...? thanks for any advice - its much appreciated !!!!
hey jester~
going through some similar things.....will keep you posted if i find anything...

Sounds good Danster > have you or anyone out there had any good experiences with Long Beach BMW...? they are an authorized Dinan dealer as well > which Beverly Hills isn't....so they might be more lenient on CPO work with a modified M5...? just a thought - I'm gonna call the SA over there and see what he says, ill keep you posted !
I cant say much about the dealership themselves but my SA at New Century BMW is the best SA I've ever had to deal with. He has always taken care of my car and is a car enthusiast not just a guy with a job. Name is Dan Taylor.

Justin,
Let me get this straight-you did not buy your M5 from (any)said dealership.you did not buy BMW dealership approved Dinan parts. You want(any) said dealership to warrenty your M5?
well you should know by now to stay away from Santa Monica.
I'm actually taking my beast down to South Bay tomorrow for the Emission Recall. Got some good recommendations from laidbacknags and am using his tech guy and SA.
Last I heard, BMW Beverly Hills is a manufacturer owned dealership.
Don't go to Crevier ... I bought 3 cars from them over the years, and lately they have (service) gone to he** ... I would no longer trust them with anything ...
I didn't like Long Beach, they were friendly, but I think they lied to me on at least one ocassion, and ordered the wrong parts on another.
South Bay (bought the M5 there) seems to be pretty weak in the service area ... at least for M cars.
Have heard good things about New Century, but never been there for service.
Santa Monica is a definite NO NO ...
So where do I go? I go to McKenna (Norwalk). Used to work there, and they hired about 25 guys away from Crevier about a year ago ... The Service Manager is great (Mike Whitehouse), and they fixed a problem created by Crevier at no charge and no questions asked ... So for the time being, I go there.

thanks for all the replies guys !!!! good to hear there are some dealerships out there that are helping M5 owners !--- i know Santa Monica is a NO-NO > ill definitely look into McKenna as well as South Bay recommended by lestat832....keep me posted with your experience lestat832 >
I have dealt with Rusnak in Westlake, Bob Smith in Calabasas, and the money-grubbing dealer (who shall remain nameless) in Camarillo where I have had 2 bad experiences.
Rusnak service is friendly enough, but their sales staff may snub you if they don't think they can sell you a car. My wife and I actually went next door to the Audi showroom because the staff in BMW ignored us for 20 minutes. They lost the sale on an X5 that she was ready to buy. If you're just dealing with service, the guys are way cool, and always treated me right (they deserved the "all 5's"). Rusnak is also a Dinan authorized center.
I've had one trip over to Bob Smith in Calabasas, and dealing with them was pleasant; they did what I needed done, with no issues. I'd go back.
But "hands down", the best place to take your BMW if you're North of Mulholland and West of the 405 is Westlake Euro Auto in Westlake Village. It's an independent shop, but you won't get better work or a better deal anywhere. The only downside there is that you'll have to arrange your own rental car.
Tell him Mark with the blue M5 sent you!
