Couple of Monterey Matters

For those coming to the Monterey area this weekend just a couple of quick notes:

Local Law Enforcement

Just a warning to be especially careful about your speed and rolling stops in downtown Carmel, Pacific Grove and to a lesser extent Monterey. We don’t get much major crime yet do seem to have an abundant supply of law enforcement officers with revenue targets. They should have plenty of more tempting targets than the M5 but I would still be careful.

Restaurants

In case you have time to eat while visiting the Monterey Peninsula this weekend, noted below are a few suggestions. All phone numbers are 831.

Everything is pretty packed thus reservations would be suggested.

Pebble Beach

-Stillwaters at the Lodge 624-3811 (overlooks the Ocean and 18th of the Pebble Beach Golf Links)
-Roy’s at Spanish Bay 647-7500 (nice ocean views)

Pacific Grove

-Fandango 372-3456
-Fishwife 375-7107

Monterey

-Stokes Adobe 373-1110
-Montrio 648-8880
-John Pisto’s Whaling Station 373-3778

Monterey HWY 68 – between Hyatt and Laguna Seca

-Tarpy’s Roadhouse 647-1444
-Billy Quon 647-0390 (in Ryan Ranch office park)

Carmel

-Portabella 624-4395
-Flaherty’s Seafood Grill & Oyster Bar 620-8860
-Mission Ranch 625-9040 (food is ok – draw is the owner (Clint Eastwood) plus view).
-There are a lot of nice spots in downtown Carmel for those who would prefer to simply be spontaneous.

Carmel Valley

Baja Cantina (tex-mex very casual) – 625-2252
Rio Grill 625-5436

Any area specific questions please feel free to post or email.

Great post, SCH.

Good info for all. My wife and I stayed in Pacific Grove a cupla months ago - had a GREAT dinner @ Fandango, also good seafood at Fishwife. We also had a decent meal at that restaurant right on the water in P.G. where there is a 90 degree bend in the road, and a little tiny bay right below it - almost across the street from 7 Gables. Can't remember its name?
