Kumho Ecsta SPT vs Falken FK452

All

I am looking for a lower cost alternative to my PS-2s. Anyone have any experience with either of these tires? I can get either set delivered to my house for under $625 for 4 in the OEM fitments. The other one to consider is the Avon Tech M500.

Looking for feedback.

Thanks

BK

I run the Kuhmo and have been very happy with them. A quiet tire and handles pretty well. Kinda soft on the sidewall when compared to the tires I usually run which is the Bridgestone SO3's. I like the taller sidewalls than on the PS2's and Toyo's. I am happy with them and you can feel when they are about to give way to physics

I run them on my M3 as well. I don't track it and they handle well enough for me when I want to take a corner a little harder than usual.

I also run coilovers on both cars so I can push it hard into the corners

I am using the Kumho Ecsta SPT in 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. I'd say they have 90% of the grip of the stock PS2 at less than half the price(in 19" fitment).

Very happy with the overall performance, ride quality and grip for the price.

Tire Rack is trying to push me into the Avon Tech M500s. They say that the Kuhmos get loud after 7000 miles or so.

Is there any truth to this?

About 3 months ago I purchased a set of Dunlop Direzza DZ101s. I'm probably only going to keep the car another year or so, so I didn't want to drop $$$$ on a set of tires. I think it was about $800 installed. So far I've been very happpy with them. They're very quiet and they handle well enough for my daily commute. I haven't had them in the wet too much yet though.

Ive got the Kumho SPTs on my car with M parallels on it. 245/40-18 and 275/35-18. I like them a lot for the price. I never track this car so I drive on the street all the time. That doesnt mean I baby the car! (ever) They arent too loud when you start to lose adhesion. At 100mph+ on highway on-ramps, my tires are just ever so slightly complaining. I think my roommates 99 m3s Mich. pilot sports make more noise than these tires. I did notice the sidewalls are slightly less stiff than other companies but as long as you run a decent tire pressure, they are ok...

The kumho is also wider than other brand names 275mm width. I like that about the tire too- seems like there is some meat back there. My previous falkens looked like 265s instead of 275s.

I came from falken azenis st115s in the same size. They were discontinued and I only needed 1. I decided to buy 4 new tires instead of having mis matched tires.

I'm running Toyo T-1Rs, and am in need of new rears.

Has anybody ordered from this merchant? They have the rears for $195 each, which seems great to me.
