M5 caravan to Sonoma Wed. (Bay Area)

Forgive me if someone already posted this, but I have not been on the board as much recently. See what having free time does to you.

Let's organize a caravan to Sonoma for the track day on Thursday. Traffic will be a pain if we leave after 3PM Wed. No Barry, we will not make it there in a hour this time, well... maybe. The San Mateo area is alays a good starting point, any thoughts?

We can certainly start from my place - most of you already know where it is. There will be traffic, but even with a lot of it it won't take us more than 1.5 hours to get there. I'm not sure I leave as early as 3PM, but 4PM should be OK, and earlier is still a possibility.

I will be leaving around 2pm. I would like to miss traffic. As we all know crossing the Bridge and going through 19th st after 3 is a *****. There will be enough of us to go in 2 groups, I'm sure. I have a friend in Napa I would like to see before our coktails. Ken, Greg and other, welcome to join. 10 acres in Napa, Walnut trees, good wine (for those who drink)....I'm leaving early.
We can see how Gustav's Boxter does with the big boys. Remeber, they can't revoke a license he doesn't have.

Ken, we can still try for and hour......can't we??;

By leaving early we could also take Gustav on the "fun run" as Mark mentioned.
I still haven't been there since my brush with the curb. I guess I need to close that loop

Looks like John Vink and I will be on the later train - John is in meetings in Palo Alto until 4 or later, and I'm about driven out, having just taken John around in Sonoma and Gustav to Tahoe and back in the 996TT. Saving it for the track on Thursday!

SO - John will call me when his meeting is over and if he can be at my house by 5:00, we'll go up together. Anyone is welcome to join - there will be friendly radio conversation and traffic. Probably make it to the hotel by 6:30 or so.

/Greg

Barry is up for leaving earlier for some north bay adventure. I will probably not be able to pick up my track rims/tires until after noon. It may push me back to a later departure. Looks like John and Greg will be leaving around 5PM. Paul will also be arriving later. We can finalize the details in the morning.

Gustav is looking to do a comparison between my E34 M5 and the Boxter S tomorrow also. There's a rental car that will take some abuse over the next week.

Guys, have fun at Sears. I will see you guys in Monterey. I am going to leave around 7 PM on thursday from Mountain View. Maybe I could meet up with you guys on your way down. Would love to travel with the group. Let me know around what time you will be in my area on the highway. I can park the car on the side of the highway and wait for the sea of M5's to fly by :-)

Unfortunately I don't have anyone's cell phone, please can someone call me on thursday at 650-303-2373 or give me your cell.

See you guys tomorrow or on Friday morning !
