Does your M5 do this on a consistent basis? Had you moved the car from one parking space to another, i.e. to get access to another car, then abruptly shut off the m5?
I have seen instances in other cars that I have owned where the enriched fuel remained partially unburned in the cylinder. Upon startup, the car has exhibited this behavior. In fact, my BMW M Coupe does this too when describing the circumstances above. I freaked out the first time I saw that. I haven't seen it again since I
I even had one car where the manufacturer had a technical service bulletin about the injectors remaining open and flooding the cylinders when the ignition was shut off in this manner. The solution was to crank the engine with the pedal to the floor until the "ignition caught" and the enginge started. Gee, so much for modern fuel injection.
A freind of mine has a Viper that puts down 1600HP - to protect the ungodly amount of money he has into the engine he runs it rich. It also has the pistons set up loose and it uses alot of oil. When he jumps on it there is lots of blueish smoke. Might want to have it analyzed for exhaust gasses and see whats coming out the back. My first guess is that there may be an issue with the MAF's or something else that controls the flow of fuel.
If I had a car with 1600hp then I don't want to know whats coming out from the back. Definitely not!
By the way an espresso and an Armagnac is just what my brain needs now (and gets).
If the blue smoke is consistent you have to check it up.
