Ordering now..

Greetings Beast-masters,
As a "signing-bonus" my soon-to-be employer is offering me the vehicle of my choice for under 100K, so naturally the only thing I could think of is the M5. I have been wanting one forever and finally have that oppurtunity. My question is the route to take to order one, should I just go to my local dealership and go through them or is there some place "better" to do business like BMW or M itself? The dealerships around me have not given me a "Hello" or "Can I help you?" because of my age (22), I don't want to give any of them the business, frankly.

I will be travelling abroad soon and I would like to have a Beast to my specs in my driveway and done over by Dinan when I get back in December, you think that would be possible?

I'm just so excited, all of you seem so happy with your Beasts, I hope someday soon I can feel the same pride and comraderie that everyone has here.

Thanks for your help.

Lawrence

Hopefully...
Titanium Silver on Silverstone/Alum

*SHOCKED* which company are u working for? are they still hiring?? I want a vehicle of my choice for under 100K... And of course its the M5...

CONGRATS MAN!!! You have made the perfect choice! If you have a little time I think calling different dealerships around the US would get you the car sooner. Going to the local dealer... they probably have a long wait list, unless theres one in OC that doesnt have a waitlist but in CA thats kind of slim... Actually contact Adrian (Stallion M5) he'll prob know of a place where you can get one soon... He'll respond by tonight... heheheh

Lucky Dawg! How great. You'll love the car. Yes, there have been a lot of cancelled orders thanks to the market downturn. If you call a lot of dealers - including out of CA - you will very likely find the car you want, in stock, at list price. (You might have to make a "I can have cash in your hands in 12 hours - take it or leave it" offer to get them to give you that kind of deal.)

Good god man!! I want your job!

Anyhow, I think Allison BMW in Mountain View (gee what a surprise out of me right?) has/had a 2001 Titanium Silver with dealer miles (~100 or so). That was last month - I'll check when I go pick mine up tomorrow to see if it is still there.

I 100% agree with Greg's philosophy regarding cash in hand for these cars. Wish I could have done this, but to avoid the mark-up, I had to get it out of state and 1C00lVC gave me his waiting list position at a dealer in New Jersey at MSRP.

OUT of State

Good selection. I too am in Orange County(Irvine) and if you want a car soon at MSRP go out of state. You should be able to get one in less than 3 months this way. Email me and I will give you the name of the two dealers I purchased from out of state. (g5harlan@aol.com).

Great job!

Mark

call around

Sounds like you will be making a lot of calls in the next few days, but you should be able to find just about any color combination that dealers would normally order (i.e. no individual).

You can request a curtasy delivery to you local dealer too. But don't expect that local dealer to be very helpful or provide free loaner cars for scheduled services. Dealers are way too short-sighted and they don't realize that snubbing the customer on something like this guarantees you will never be a customer with them in the future (sorry, I'll stop ranting now)

But in this economy, don't pay anything over MSRP, unless you are buying from a CA dealer. And don't buy from Allison, they have pissed me off too many times with their gouging and unwillingness to talk to you unless you are waving a wad of cash around. I bought my M5 and 540 from another local Bay Area dealer and Allison probably sold the M5 they had for +$15K over MSRP, but not to me. (OK, I'll really stop my rant now).

Thanks for all your help guys. So I guess going through a dealer out of state is the only option? Will try.

UCSD-I work in the music business.

MAH- I will email you regarding your recommended dealers.

Thanks again.

Music, Tight... since the company is giving you the car must mean you're going to have to drive customers/clients around huh? They're going to have some fun...

Fernando, y'know I've been contemplating and contemplating color combos, as I'm sure you and everyone else on here did. But, I finally decided on Titanium Silver on Silverstone Sport with Aluminum. Wanted to blend some elegance (exterior) with a little sportiness.

UCSD - Nope, I won't have to drive anyone in my own M5, it'll be totally seperate from work. My job involves going on tour, so it'll just be limo's and town cars for me, I'll be drooling to get home once I hear the Beast has been delivered. What will make me miserable is that I'll be "on the road" for 9 months out of the year.

My employer's headquarters is in Orlando, if and when I'm there (very rarely) they're gonna have to twist my arm to get to drive a company car. BTW one of those "company cars" is an 01 M5!! Also some other names that I never heard of like Maranello, Modena, S55, and what's a Booger-ti??

OK now, gotta call them dealers!!
