Q's for Steve Dinan on Sears Pt. Day - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

Some of you more fortunate fellas are going to meet Steve Dinan at Sears Point. We collectively probably have a bunch of questions for him. It'd be a great opportunity to get a few answers straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. I know some others are probably interested in the expected release dates of headers and/or the supercharger kit.

I personally am most interested in when he'll release an uprated "sport" clutch that would allow for very spirited launches and upshifts with a fully-loaded (passengers, baggage) beast. Could you guys participated in the Monterey event bring this question to the table?

here is my wish list in order of preference...

1) sport clutch/aluminum flywheel combo

2) intake induction coating (ceramic or otherwise)

3) headers

4) new cams

Can somebody ask Steve to clarify the warranty situation? The Dinan literature seems to imply a special relationship between dinan and BMW. The fact that many bmw dealerships sell dinan components reinforces this notion. Yet, on the bimmer.org board (must be taken with a grain of salt), many people have complained of the blame game where BMW points fingers to Dinan and Dinan refuses to fix the problem. An example I read about was where the guy had the dinan software installed. Later he fouled his cats. BMW refused to replace the cats because of the custom software, and dinan would not help either since the cats were stock.

I'm not trying to be anti-dinan here (in fact I plan on installing a bunch of their stuff). I just want to be sure we are all covered when it comes to dinan mods on the car. This is espcially true with the more elaborate components about to come out (headers, supercharger, etc).

Again, the point here is not to get Steve riled up. I'm sure if somebody were to ask in a nice manner Steve would be happy to give a definative answer.

Guys, although product questions are good, I am sure he will say they have what they have and are working on what they don't.

If you have the chance to talk to Steve with such a small group I would use the opportunity to ask him about driving. He is a great driver and has tons of experience in big 5's on the track. He only instructs in Group A in BMWCCA schools and you would be lucky to get him. Remember, he just sells expensive stuff to you guys so he can race cars. Unlike his products and prices, I have heard nothing but good things about him as an instructor.
