well, i wouldn't want one as a daily driver!, but if you really want one, i'd do it. I imagine it's not a straight swap, a big block corvette sounds expensive! I've thought about selling my M5 to buy an early GTO, and something else for a daily driver, but in the end, just do not think i'd be happy day to day driving anything else. So my plan is to wait a bit, and buy a project/toy later next year.

Whats your plan with the car?

That car isn't going to be as friendly as the M5 is, wouldnt recommend for daily driving or anything like that.

Its a completely different beast then what an M5 is (even though I dont own one, yet). Its completely different then having a new Vette too.

Suspension wont be all that smooth; reliability could be great, could be crap, good side, its cheap to repair for some things, its standard off the shelf chevy parts.

My folks own a 65 327 Convert with side pipes, I LOVE taking that car anywhere, we used it as the car to leave in for our wedding, got great pictures taken with it, couldnt have been replaced with an M5 for stuff like that.

One thing I will say, selling your M5 wont do much to buy a 67 427, last I looked a 327 will run you over $50k, and a 427 will cost you upwards of $100k. If you want anything in good shape that is...

67 big block vette is a fantastic collectors car that is only going north in value from here. No where near as nice as the M5 or as comfortable - definetley not a daily driver. Just depends on what you want to do with it.

I'm a big Corvette fan myself...I used to be really into them, but now it's BMW's. I would say do it if you really want to, but be sure to find a really good example and look hard for what you really want. I wouldn't be suprised though if you miss the M5 right away, since the Corvette is very one dimensional. The M5 just has so much to offer, and really it is a hard comparision, which one do you want more?

It is kind of a weird comparision, but I used to have a modified silver 2002 Corvette Z06 that looked like a race car for the street...I also used to drive my parents silver Lexus LS430 around a lot too...I used to love both of those cars in their own ways. I find myself thinking sometimes how my current M5 is almost a combination of those two cars...amazing...Corvette raw power and aggressive looks, yet Lexus luxury and convenience, and of course the silver color similarity doesn't hurt either. Like I said, it's a weird comparison, but I think you know what I mean.

I guess the point is, of all the cars I've had, the E39 is my favorite and has the most to offer overall. No doubt.

well if I got the corvette it would be just for weekend sunny driver. But I wouldn't want to do anything with it. Just a classic collectors car. I really want to be able to keep them both, but my 26 year old finances won't let me. So its pretty much one or the other.

Kalvin, try this. Keep the M5 and with the ~$50k difference of the big vs small block, get a small block 67 for now. Or a big block 65-66 would save you a bit of $ too.
