It's stock number B13897A (their black '03 - only one)
I am looking for a low-miles '02 or '03 black (brushed aluminum). Im assuming that I would have to pay a few thousand dollar premium buying that car at a BMW dealership versus elsewhere. Also, is it a fair assumption to make that BMW dealers are in general less apt to deal (versus private party or used-car dealer)?
Thanks i advance for you help!
Andrew

When you buy from a dealer, generally you get the detailing, the cpo inspection, the warranty... these things add cost. Dealing was not a problem for me (I bought mine from Fields BMW in Chicagoland). I've not dealt with Bill Jacobs, and I've always dealt face to face rather than internet. A lot depends on time on the lot. After 3-4 weeks and no serious prospects, the dealer will want to move the vehicle and the sales manager will ok a healthy cut to his junior sales guy if the customer is obviously serious, is lined up with financing, and can close the deal quickly. Otherwise the car will be headed for auction soon and then we'll read about the car on the Luxury Motors website. If it were me, I'd probably do a careful phone interview about the car, inquire about maintenance records that you can view, etc. It better be immaculate. If it passes the phone interview, I'd probably want to fly down and see the car. This will demonstrate seriousness of intent. If the car has been on the lot for a bit, you could probably get them down. Always good to line up your $$ in advance... gives you leaverage. That'd be my 0.02.
I would say somewhat overpriced, especially when you see the 2005 M3 with 9000 miles they also have at 51K, or the 2005 X5 4,8 iS at 57K

I agree it is a little to overpriced but i actualy saw this same car in person and sat in it but didnt drive it it looks flawless inside and out but if you are serious about buying it you should fly down and inspect it for your self
curious...did you look at it within the past few days? the dealer said he just got if off lease within the past week. Also, wondering if M5board has a "network" of regional knowledgeable individuals that are willing (maybe for fee) to inspect cars for other M5board members in other areas?
It's not a bad price from a dealer, assuming it is immaculate.
I note that it is not listed as a CPO vehicle, however. I hope this is an oversight on the ad, not a fact. If this is true, the dealer may be hitting up the buyer for extra cash for the CPO.
If the car is exactly what you want and they won't deal, try to get the car near their price with CPO and with the extended maintenance.

Mostly we do it by hooking up with threads like this. There are probably 20 or so active Chicagoland M5board members. I don't have a mailing list handy, but one of the recent threads on this weekend's Chicago area M5 meet contains a list that I put together. It would be possible to direct a single PM to all members of the list to see if anyone might be willing to stop by and check out the car. I'd be happy to (no fee of course), but Bill Jacobs BMW is a fair distance from my stomping ground.
Thanks so much for your replies - hugely valuable as usual. It seems that the common theme of this site's members is intelligence, insight, and courteousness. Now if I can only find a "real" price on my 1998 Porsche 911 C4S i'll be happy (seller's asking prices are all over the place).
Thanks for your offer. If I moved ahead with the car I'd take you up on that. I would only feel obligated to compensate you for your time, gas, etc., etc. Let me see...
