          New beast owner in Virginia!

I know, I know, I need to post some pictures, but I can't wait to list as an actual owner.

2002 M5, titanium silver, black leather, wood trim. 27,500 miles when I got it Thursday afternoon and, well, over 28,000 now. I can see that this will not be a low-mileage beast for long.

This board has been a great source of information, and I'm excited to finally be able to experience on a daily basis the joys (and perhaps occasional frustrations) that the members here share.

Most surprising observation so far? How smooth and quiet the car is cruising at 70 miles per hour. Pushing the accelerator gives you that sort of urgent throatiness letting you know that it's ready for blastoff, but still, it's completely at ease and feels very much like a luxury sedan moving at speed with traffic. Oh yeah, and it feels glued to the road.

Personally, I'm just glad that I found this car before my '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee with broken a/c, duct-taped bumper, taped-shut gas tank, broken trunk latch, and missing right side plastic pieces rolled over to 150,000 miles. I was really getting worried about the depreciation hit if that happened.

Okay, seriously, this is a wonderful car, and I feel very lucky to have finally found my way into one.

          Thanks.

          John

Congrats! AFA the depreciation thing...I put a set of ///M valve stem caps on Badpolarboy's old 320i, and that immediately doubled the value of the car.

          Welcome!
Very nice color! Mine did come with the wood trim but I bought all new brushed steel pieces, I thought it was more fitting for a racecar, but hey! I'm glad to see some good comments about the wood! I do have it and may go back for a change of scenery.
Too bad you missed our VA M5'ers meet earlier this month, it was a wonderful event. Please take a look at the pictures!
