I use the standard BMW wheel cleaner that I pick up from my dealer. My wheels are near flawless and have a superb silvery shine that I'm crazy about and don't want to take any chances with.

So far, I've been happy with Menzerna Gel Tire and wheel cleaner. Very gentle, and does a good job getting the dust off the M5 wheels.

Zymol Brite wheel cleaner, P21S wheel gel are the two best I have found.

S100/P21s, Zymol, BMW OEM (I think its meguiars or pinnacle that makes it), Dupont Teflon Wheel Cleaner (no real teflon, but does leave a nice smooth finish behind).
Basically, you want a Detergent based and PH balanced cleaner. No cleaners based in acids or lyes.

I swear by P21S wheel gel myself. Been using it for years.
