Photos Of My New DVD Navigation Upgrades

With the help of Chris (Vason)...we were able to install some custom navigation upgrades by using the custom discs that can be downloaded through a link on this board. Chris, can you post the link?

The new upgrade is awesome, basically you have some options in terms of what you can download, but here's what me and Chris have:

1. M5 splash screen logo
2. British babe navigation voice
3. Eliminates "accept" screen
4. Capability of "birds eye" map view
5. Upgraded map detail and graphics

The upgrade is great! The M5 logo really looks sharp, and no more "accept" screen! I included a few photos, and a couple new ones of my car I took today with the halos on in a parking garage.

Thanks, Garrett

Very nice. I haven't seen one site to download all of the improvements. Can you or Chris post the URL? I can never get the image burning alcohol thing straight. Any interest in selling me the disks if they work on Nav IV, v.27?

Thanks, Chris is the expert on this one, I guess let's just wait until he or someone else chimes in.

I was just able to use his discs that he had already downloaded.

Shaka - yes because you have the Euro-version. Everyone is sue happy here and we have to have the accept screen to tell us we can kill ourselves if we don't pay attention to the road.

Mike - the alcohol burning is very easy. You can follow the steps laid out on the link I pasted below to burn the software update to V27.1 as well as how to edit the splash screen.

FAST-5 - the X5-world has a nice writeup on how to change the splash screen. The V27.1 is a great update and stay away from v27.0 which has problems with the satellite acquisitioning.

I find the new DVD-NAV 2006.2 is a great update with the zipcode lookup instead of city and they "really" did update the maps. It has my neighborhood in it which is only two years old.

Good luck and if you need any help just pm me.

Atlanta...........

Im sorry brother, but asking me to read & understand the link instruction was like trying to read/understand Chinese, as I was completely lost in the text and its meaning.

I never get the accept screen either and I know that my car is a US (sold new and used at the same dealer) version. Is there some version of the nav that doesn't require the accept screen? I would love to have that birds eye view!

Chuck
