V27.1 question

finally got around to doing the update last night.......have a few questions....

i seem to have a few random bullseyes on certain routes that are just sitting in the middle of the road. no idea where they came from or what the represent?

also the MK4 unit i bought was munufactured in france (at least that what the sticker says) The nav disc that cam with my unit was a 2003 GB/Ireland disc. I got a random "Tyre" warning on my cluster last night. why is it coming up as "Tyre" instead of "Tire"? Is there any way to change this back?

is there any way to have street names in perspective view?

The bullseye is, I believe, representing the "center of town" - would these all be smallish sized towns you are driving through?

I would imagine your car would have to be reprogrammed to get rid of the improper spelling and get back to the correct "Tire" I don't think that has anything to do with nav.

all the towns around here are small towns...so that would make sense.

I get the tire misfunction once a week.....i had never seen the "tyre" spelling untill the MK4 went into the car a few days ago. I cant think of any other setting that would have gotten fouled up. On the OBC computer I can now have french as a language....i dont think i could do that with the mk3.

I have English (tyre, cheque, centre, colour etc...), French and German available on my MK4. You can get it re-flashed/programed by BMW I believe. Or maybe your V27.1 upgrade disc wasn't USA. Did you download it or have it done at BMW?

to answer your other question, i do not think it is possible to have street names in perspective view.

I do think the Nav computer has a lot of involvement in the rest of the system, so if the nav is set in UK english, that would explain the tyre spelling. Is your nav voice US or does it have a uk accent? Where did the mk4 nav computer come from?
Mike

thanks Mike. I do have the voice set to the female with the accent...it has to be the new MK4 (ebay from GB) making the changes....because my MK3 (also bought from ebay) had the british accent but i never saw spelling differences.
