E39 M5 options question

Hello All,
I'm trying to figure out exactly what options my M5 has....well, the names at least...like what a lot of you have in your sigs on the board....i'd like to be part of the cool-gang..hehe.

It's black, non-metallic...black leather interior but with 2 different kinds of leather it seems...and has brushed aluminum trim in the cabin.

Fire away with the technical terms!

I was wondering the same thing about my recent acquisition.

Call BMW NA and when you give them the last 7 of your vin they can tell you which options it had at purchase.

Sometimes you have to coax the answers out of them but a nice service anyway.

The main options for the car from what i have gathered is:

1) M-Audio or DSP
2) Rear Sunshade
3) PDC ( Park Distance Control )
4) Extended Leather Upgrade ( Interior )

These were the major options on these cars. It came very well equipped.

Two interiors, "sport" and "luxury". Sport has the two tone leather, although if you ordered black it resembled the luxury, but different grain. Rear sunshade after '00 only available with sport. Fold down seats other main option. Check out http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=18

Jerry

You had stated two different types of leather. If I understand the M5 options correctly, and I know I don't completely and never have ... the interior options befuddle me ... you have the Sport interior and with the Sport interior you can have the Rear Sunshade. You can't have the Sunshade with the Luxury Leather interior. At least that is my understanding.

I have options (above) 1, 3, and 4 (2003). And, I added a compartment in the trunk (cheap and effective from BMW ... instructions somewhere on this site), and the Voice Recognition option (expensive, but worth it to me as I use the Navagation System a lot and it minimizes taking my eyes off the road). Both were and can be self installed.

the mech,

Along with what ALPINE_M5 mentioned there's the fold down rear seats. The M5 really didn't have that many factory options most of the stuff was included.
