windshield/ rearwindow rubber seal issues - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

has anybody experience this with their m5? is this something were bound to have? i have seen (e39) 5ser with this issues...is this something that we need to look at? what is the best way in maintaining/restore rubber seals?

mine is doing this too. only thing is to replace the seals i'd imagine.

cost? and for a 2000-2003 built car it should not have this kind of condition (ive personally seen an 03 m5 with cracking), and i don't think weather is much of an issue as alot of owners garage their car and drives them on weekends. Should'nt this be a warranty issue?

My 01 M5 has this cracking as well but not as bad. My 91 M5 has been parked outdoors most of the past 6 years and although the paint looks tired for it the seals still look better than the 01's! I wonder if it would be covered under the CPO?

My 2003 already had it replaced under warranty. The front seals have cracked and according to my SA at New Century BMW, it is a common problem for all 5 series. They had to take the front windshield completely off to redo the seals. I treat my car very poorly as opposed to most on the board-- it sits out in the open all day long; so I cant really say the seals falling apart in 3 years surprised me. However, my family has a 1999 Honda Odyssey that still has not had to have its seals replaced and is in way better condition. Go figure.
