As I said, I bought online and paid $23 in shipping for two cans to Belgium, so it should be the same for anywhere in the EU? However, just tried to put in the UK and got the same quotes as above, $80, and the option I used,

USPS Airmail Parcel Post $23.90

was not available.

I would contact them directly and see if they can't match this to anywehere in the EU.

Mad how obsessed we can become

Just off to call Maplin's here in Dublin - no Irish version of the web-site

It was £10ish for the 1L can in the UK, that should equate to roughly €5,000

Be careful about this gotcha. The 1L can is pure liquid. Only the 400ml (same as in that link you posted earlier) is pressurized aerosol which is more suitable for MAF cleaning.

Aha!

Didn't realise that - just called them, they have the 1L in stock, time for another call....

Thanks for that,

Rich.

Called Maplin's again, they have the aerosol, €10 per can.

Not too bad, I'll call in on my way home this evening and try it out tomorrow.

I may not be able to post a reply until Monday as I have dial up at home

Cheers,

Rich.

This dedicated cleaner sound like a very good idea!

I would suggest those who use it perform MAF-tests (peak fuel flow tests) before and after cleaning, and post it, so we can get some solid data on how effective it is.

(How to test the MAFs is here:

How to test the MAFs yourself and How MAFs work )

We have seen varying success with the use of ordinairy electronics cleaner (must be of the non-residue kind or the MAFs are gone). I think this dedicated stuff might be better suited to the task.

K&N - just say no!

Oiled K&N filters are a very bad idea. The oil will kill the MAFs. With constant cleaning, it may take a bit longer, but IMHO oiled air intake filters are a big no-no.

(try a search with K&N MAF)

Hi David,

I have not read the method on how to carry out the MAF tests (yet), I have just printed it off for reading on the train

Is it difficult to do? Looks like there is a lot to it from the glance I had...

Cheers,

Rich.
