Killed Dinan clutch

Well thats 6 clutches. latest victim dinan hd clutch worked great on street.
Last night at track BF goodrich drag radials. 1st run 30 psi way to high pressure. Idled of line tried to full throttle no luck went into 2nd and spun like a mother...12.73 113 mph ( corrected to sea level ) second run hooked up great drop tire pressure to 20 psi, hit 2nd gear there goes the clutch done,

Well a UUC 6 puc i guess this will be number 7 clutch and 6th fluwheel

Its gets expensive trying to make a m5 drag like a mustang

M5 is not a drag car, might try a mustang. Although at 6 clutches I wonder how much of that is on the clutch it self.

I race from light to light with anything i love to race. when you do that 100 times a week it puts a lot of load on a car....Just so you know Mr drive perfect the 1st uuc clutch ring was not installed right, so went into limp mode, the spec clutch was out by 28 grams. the jb racing/ clutch masters made more noice than my excursion diesel. So i only really killed 3, 2 factory
and the dinan others were manufactured with flaws or made to much noice.

The UUC drove the nicest i am going 6 puc now

I just sold my mustang motor fastest 10.5 drag radial tire car in canada
8 sec at 170, never blew clutch in my 930 porsche yet 1100kg 523 horsepower so its not my foot..

With the abuse on the clutch, I don't think anything but the 11 inch UUC will work. Don't know which Dinan hd clutch you were using, but Dinan has to have something to back up the 621 hp SC car. Have you talked to them about that setup?
Regards,
Jerry

He isn't abusing the clutch. He just drives REALLY HARD. For the kind of driving he does, there is no way to keep from going through clutches, as the launch is all important in drag racing, isn't it?

"Is it the sounds that make a BMW a BMW? A BMW is designed to be heard, felt, experienced. So our engines sing. Our steering talks back. And we insist on offering manual transmissions in nearly all our models for drivers who crave them. The result is an almost telepathic oneness with the car. Just as surely as you can hear a BMW, a BMW hears you."

Why would one consider an M5 if their primary, or one of their primary goals was dragging. Seems odd.

Because that makes an awesome autobahn cruiser, which is also great on the twisties - the automotive equivalent of a swiss knife. However, it does not make a great drag racer, for the following reasons:

1) It is a heavy car, with 4 doors, all mod cons and designed for a very different purpose
2) Parts are expensive and it is not easily modified to substantially higher output or lower weight
3) The impressive output is achieved with very sophisticated engineering, rather than a simple, easy to maintain big Detroit V8

For those reasons, and many more, a modded Mustang, Viper, Corvette, etc are so much better suited to dragging.

This guy is constantly attacking. I wish I could remember the thread, but this guy argued for 20-30 posts with another fellow, completely muddied the thread. I'm shocked he didn't re-engage you on this one. Watch out!

Peace and love to all M5'ers, save the rest for your local stealer!
