Experiences with installing DSSR only?

I am not interested in getting a SSK but, would adding just the DSSR from UUC make for improved shifting?

I'm going to call Rob at UUC Monday but would like to hear fellow member's thoughts.

Thanks

would be interested to hear the results. I removed a ssk due to notchiness, but would like to reduce some of the play in the oe system. It looks like replacing the carrier bushings should help, and since that is mounted to the body, it shouldn't really cause any problems with noise/vibrations.

That's exactly why I'm not getting the SSK - too many reports of notchiness plus, I like the OEM shifter - I don't track it or race the car at all but, if a DSSR alone can tighten up the shifting or improve the shifting characteristics without any subsequent problems then for $150, I might do it.

Going to talk with Rob on Monday and hopefully a few more opinions will be given.

Keep us posted tranck. I am considering doing the exact thing as I don't track my car. It is pretty much my daily driver.

Thanks

I have an Evo3 + DSSR and it's nice, but didn't help get rid of much of excess play in the carrier itself. It's also a tad too notchy for me.

I'm considering a full autosolutions kit at about $385. they replace the entire carrier as part of the kit. I talked to some e46 m3 owners who have used the Evo3 and the full AS kit and they all liked the AS better. I need to call up AS and talk to them still. If I like what I hear, I'll get the kit and probably put my UUC up for sale.

I can't really comment on the UUC since I don't have it and I don't want to get into a big discussion over shifters. However, I don't have any problems with my Rogue SSK. It is NOT the standard M5 kit however. I wanted a shorter stick, so we used a 540 kit and shortened the stick 1.5 inches IIRC. Gives about a 30% reduction. It shifts very smooth, no issues. Just food for thought.
Regards,
Jerry

I have the UUC kit also and although it is a nice shift kit, there is alot of side to side play while the car is in gear. I have the DSSR also so I don't think that going with the DSSR alone will tighten things up at all. The play in my shifter may seem excessive because I also went with the UUC shift knob which weighs alot and this weight seems to exacerbate the side to side play. I had the EVO 2 kit for my e36 M3 and it felt much tighter than the e39 kit.
