Sport button: Anything other than advanced timing and tighter steering???

I have read several threads and cannot seem to find if the button does anything else like maybe tightening suspension or something...

I'm afraid that a quicker throttle response and less steering assistance are the only things it does - but I think, to great effect.

Sport off, DSC on and you have a comfortable, well built & smart saloon with loads of power.

Sport on, DSC on and you have a fast, responsive supersaloon that won't throw you off the road just because your last name isn't Schumacher

Sport on, DSC off and woohoo it lets you play like Tiff Needel.

timing is not affected by the sport button. All it does is quickens the throttle response by making the drive by wire system more sensitive and yes steering assist is reduced.

If you're used to sport off and you put it on for some spirited driving, watch out for that clutch engagement... you may find yourself cursing yourself about dumping your clutch at high rpm cuz you're so used to the peddle dynamics with sport off...

I used to have a 95 M3... which had no traction control, it made me much more aware of where the car (and my) limits were. The first time I romped on my M5 and it cut power due to the DSC "interfering" it pissed me off. Personally I always drive with sport ON and DSC OFF (unless its wet). Give it a while and get use to how the car behaves, but once you've gotten used to the car its the best way to drive it (in my opinion.)

Wow! Thanks for all the responses guys. I am quite comfortable with the car and have tried several different driving styles with the button on and off. I have to say that I like the DSC on and the sport button off when driving in town, in traffic or when I am talking on the bluetooth.

However, I like the sport button on and the DSC off when I am "hoopin" it up. I love the effect it has on the throttle response. The steering doen not make that much of a difference to me. I also like having the DSC off to really feel the power of the car. It is hard to break the back end loose in my 993 TT due to all wheel drive, so it is nice to have a powerful RWD car that can hang it out easily when asked.

Either my tires suck or this beast is just that powerful, but I can break these tires loose in first or second simply by stomping on the pedal. The car came with Dunlops so I think I know the answer. I will definitely try something else next go round.
