Which way do the grooves go?

I have stoptech grooved discs and despite putting them on correctly (labeled L and R) I don't think they are on the correct sides, I think the grooves are going the wrong way.

Does anyone have a picture of theirs?

In the direction of rotation, they scrape across the bottom (groove part closest to center of wheel hub) of the brake pad first, and then the top last. The groove leaves the top of the pad last, in the direction of rotation. The outer part of the disc's groove leaves the pad's area last.

Push water and dirt/gasses..OUT. To the outside of the spinning disc. Aided by centrifugal forces.

Makes perfect sence but its not the way Stoptech say to put them. Take a look at this picture and making a note of the L and R on the discs. This is the way I have mine

I agree with you. I think they are labelled backwards. I understand the slots are to let gases escape. Why not check with resident brake guru Dave Z, who also sells these? I will look at mine later.
Regards,
Jerry

well, I guess you found out differently, then. Common sense does not rule this time. Must be a reason.

On my old car, the venting was in the manner I spoke of. I wonder why the difference.

Cemessi,

Thanks for bringing that topic up. I've noticed that the slots appear to go counter to what I'm used to. Must be a reason though because I've seen them on other cars that way.

airflow

mmmm

less to do with the slots
more to do with the vane design for increasing centrifugal airflow and wheel rotation
