Where are all the 540's & M5's in Portland, OR?

It seems like I'm the only one in Portland with an E39 540i/6. I know this obviously isn't true but honestly, where do all of them hide? I see many more M5's around than 540's, I guess because it was sort of an in-between for the 52x/530 and M5?

I'd love to meet some others with the same car as me so we can shoot the **** and maybe do a little wrenching but all I see is 528's. Maybe I need to start looking for M5 guys?

What part of portland do you live in? I live in the West Hills, M5's everywhere! Autohaus Bayern on TV Highway works on several, including mine. They have one running around with just about everything done to it other than a supercharger.

I think there are a few more owners on the site around here as well. I can't remember any of their user ID's though.

You are right, I definately see more M5's than 540/6's. But tons of 540i's from 03' with the sport package and the M5 front end on them.

Congrats man! :

I can't believe there's no thumbs up smiley on this board

Oh well, at least we have Santa

It's nice to know there ARE some fellow V8 5'ers in Portland, although your V8's are slightly different than mine

I just realized the theme of this post is a smiley at the end of every sentence

Nice, I grew up over there, three blocks from King elementry school, back in the 80's before they put in the police station and made it all "nice"

I only recently starting feeling out the BMW community in the area, from what I have seen, there are lots of BMW events around. The motorsports guys at Autohaus are very much into the community.

I'm hoping to hit up some driving events soon.

Don't know much about the car scene in portland... but there are lots of M5's in Bend, OR. I've seen at least 5 or so different E39's and 4 of the newer M5's. Audi S models are a dime a dozen in a town where snow is common as well.

Oh yeah... should also mention that population in Bend is currently in the neighborhood of 70 thousand people.

Haha sounds like you made it through the rough times. It's still pretty bad but nothing like it used to be. I've seen two shootings since I've been here but they weren't at me so I'm not worried

Problem with the Eliot neighborhood is it has the most mental rehabilitation centers per neighborhood than anywhere else in the state, so there are quite a few looneys walking around. I really like the place though; rent is cheap, I'm close to everything, and I have my 1911.

I went to Autohaus for the dyno day a while back, seemed like real good guys. I've never been to a driving event. I'm pretty reluctant because most of the people who hang out on the forums are idiots who try to show off in front of each other and I really don't need that sort of attention from the Police or media, especially if I'm looking for a future in politics. We'll have to organize a happy hour meet sometime soon and grab a pint or two

Mirrorpond - How do you like living in Bend? I haven't been there since we sold our property in Prineville when I was 14 or so. I've heard it's grown like crazy and is expected to continue. I wouldn't mind taking a scenic drive over there sometime this summer, maybe we can setup a get together over there as well.

Bend is going NUTS! Real estate prices are going through the roof... new housing developments poping up like mushrooms over nite. The thing is ... I have NO idea what people do in this town for jobs. Besides retail and entertainment related jobs (Skiing & golf) there doesn't seem to be much new industry.

Anytime your up for a road trip to Bend just holler, there are a few other BMW owners where I work and we're always up for a drive & beer.
