ESS Supercharger

Hello , Iīve looked at those superchargers for 540i.
If you put one to 1998 540i, then itīll have 310kw and 0-60 is 4.7s.
So itīs going to cost about the same as m5. But 540 Supercharged will be cheaper to keep it going and also more rare than m5.
So say me why should i still go for m5, if we leave the Suspension and handling out

the answer there is simple at the end of the day your still driving a tricked out 540i and not an m5...

Being a former 540 owner who's thought many times about doing this myself... um, no, it's not really going to be cheaper. In addition to the supercharger, you'll need a new, stronger clutch (if a manual, which I hope it is) and a 3.15 LSD. Also don't forget the 540 has FAR more cooling issues than the M5 (though I'm having one now with the beast :-( ) so you'll probably want to upgrade to an aftermarket all alluminum radiator. You might also want to think about upgrading your brakes... but then the 540 brakes are pretty good as is, so that's not a must.

So, take the cost you've got right now, and tack on another 6-10k

As a owner of both a 540 SC and a M5 SC, I would say it totally depends on what car youre after, if you want a powerful cruiser (with auto mabye)
540 sc is cool, are you the sport type - I agree with Mattkins99, you will end up buying the LSD, brakes, clutch, etc etc. and have a damned expensive E39

you will probably do the same with the M5 though, buts its in the long run a better deal, at least thats my humble opinion.

Yes, but the ESS SC includes intercooler and all needed parts already(.
Its Bolt-on stuff.
The link: http://www.beastpower.com/Merchant2/...Store_Code=BMI

I´ m bit scared of buying m5, i see so many problems with m5.
Like the carbon build up, MAF, takes alot oil, clutch is too weak and etc.
I have also looked Alpina B10, but cant make the right choice.
All ideas are welcome

m5 i would keep stock, because the accelration is enough for me...

I don't want to dissapoint you but the clutch on a 540 - with SC... is not only weak - its not even a clutch anymore :-), and the 540 also has a MAF, but its easier to swap one than two - they also get "bad" eventually, I think
the "many" problems you mention is related very much to how an M5 is being driven by its owners related to the typical 540 owner.

and when it comes to ESS bolt on, I think Mattkins and I are not talking about the SC-kit itself, but rather the other stuff like brakes, differential etc.
that you dont need to have, but after a while with SC - I'll bet you will upgrade brakes for sure.

btw. the ESS stage I (That you linked) does not have any Intercooler.
but nevertheless (I had that kit) - it's a good kit, their Stage II is in my eyes not worth the additional money.

My experience has been that you should not wish to be in any hurry for delivery. I enquired in late March, Paid in April, and still have not recieved delivery......very disappointing.
