Inspection II done - got a new clutch for free

I dropped the beast off at Perillo in downtown Chicago earlier this week for Inspection II. I also mentioned a few minor issues - creaking from the driver's window when up and a squeek from the clutch pedal when depressed. The squeek from the clutch was diagnosed as a faulty pressure plate, and my SA decided to just replace the whole clutch while they were in there. Along with the new plugs/filters, it feels like a completely different car - as responsive with Sport off as it used to be with Sport on.

It appears that the extended maintainence that I dropped $1400 for has paid for itself. I did pony up some cash to have the rear diff fluid changed at my request. And I forgot to tell them 10W-60, so they put in 5W-30 - I'll change it back in 5k miles...

My question - any break-in procedure for the new clutch? The SA just said "take it easy and don't do any racing for a little while."

Hopefully they didn't put 5W-30 in your diff!!!!
It should take 75W-140 I believe.

I just had this done today at the stealer, since I had a drip coming from the lower diff plug - only CDN$45 in labour so I said go right ahead (perhaps I should call them the "dealer" for today ).
$77 for the oil and $10 for two shiny new drain plugs/gaskets.

Salty.

Heh! No - the 5W-30 was for the oil change that is part of Inspection II...

Can you detail your squeak more? I have a squeak when I press the clutch pedal as well, and it's definitly OUTSIDE the car. It used to only occur when the car was cold and go away as I drove for a few minutes, now it occurs all the time on every press AND release of the clutch.

When I was in for Inspection II about 2 months back, the dealer told me it was some bushings and crap on the pedal itself inside the car and wanted to charge me for it (said CPO and extended mainteance didn't cover) so I blew it off and I knew that was NOT the issue. I didn't want to argue as to why it wasn't covered either (it was only like $140 charge with labor they were trying to hit me for)

Now I'm wondering if I've got the same problem. How did they diiagnose it as a faulty pressure plate without taking the trans apart? Did you have any drivability issues with the noise? How long did you have it and did it get worse?

I've got 53k miles on the clutch, so it wouldn't be unlikely for something is wrong in there. An independent mechanic I know said it might be part of the hydrolics on the trans that need some lubrication, but I'd much rather get a new clutch.

I only noticed the squeek about a month ago - as the weather got warm enough that I have the windows down regularly. The noise was from outside, and was present when I depressed and often when I released the clutch pedal. Did not matter if I put it in gear or not. Did not seem to be getting worse. No drivability issues that I had noticed. I did, however, have clutch slippage when aggressively going from 2-3 and 3-4 that I had noticed back in December and that was still present, but not getting worse. I had just over 52k miles when it went in for service this week. Incidentally - I only mentioned the squeek as an aside along with a list of other things, and kind of blew it off as probably just a cable needing some WD40. I have no idea how they diagnosed it - I suppose that if I were footing the bill that I would have inquired further. I had actually been mentally preparing myself for ponying up the cash for an aftermarket alternative this fall/winter.

I have the squeek when I press my clutch pedal too. But it goes away when the engine warms up. The dealer lubed the clutch linkage but it didnt fix the problem. They told me they will diagnose deeper next time I bring it in for service.
