M5 Withdralws

SO I sold my Beast and got a German Civic 330i ZHP (Need 4 Door). So far its been great
and a bunch of mods are on order. The car is fun for a toy and whips around and uses no gas. But... Driving my beast was amaizing. I just got a bad one. It was a 00 with 2 many miles . It leaked oil, bad valve covers, bad clutch, bad mafs, I had to dump 6k into to get it happening the way I wanted to and then I was looking at more fixes and then the Scourge Scare.. and I gave up. Money pit... Anyway I'm jealous of you bastards that still have them so enjoy those babies! I'll be back soon I have a plan. Meanwile if you see a Silver Grey ZHP having a go at you It's me having some fun! Peace!

Ouch... I'm thinking there must be quite a number of M5 'money pits' lurking out there on the market by now. I'm surprised we don't hear more about them. With due diligence you should be able to avoid one next time around. A pedigreed beast w/ all its service records and a clean 'story' is worth a premium. Good luck.

Dave

I bought it from this dealership. This is not my car but mine was similar in miles. Beware of this dealership. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=11

Oh Yea. Also Carfaxes don't mean anything. Mine had a clean carfax and later I found all kinds of bondo residue and repairs (Looked like it was rear ended.) Then the dealer sold it to me with no smog certificate. I think they just got the car and put it on the lot. I took it in to my BMW guys the next day and they fond all kinds of oil. The dealer said that it was driven without an oil cap and that was what it was from. Unfortunetly I trusted these guys and got a Lemon. I did have fun it it while I had it but everytime I took it out I was just waiting for something else to go wrong. Like the Vanos or worse.

My advice on a used M5. Get it inspected, Have somebody who Knows these cars test drive it, don't trust the carfax, get service report.

Then sleep on it....

Unlike me... Oh yea,,, I'll take it! Yea. I'll trust you guys// Duh.

One more rant then I'm done. I did buy an extended warrenty from Universal Underwighters Insurance but everytime I made a claim they denied it because they said it was Pre-Exsisting. I was not happy with them.

that's rough!
if you're ever going to spend $K's on a car, it's always worth the $100 inspection (from an independent shop, of course). I took in a couple of M5's
to an independent shop before I made the purchase and they didn't charge me on the last one-of course I took it back to them for some minor repairs even though they are over 100 miles from where I live!

Yes, it is very advisable to bring a M5 fanatic along with you to go over the car. They will know how the car is supposed to behave and can spot all the little trouble spots right away.
