V1- Hard Wire Install in DC,VA,MD

Evening All DC, MD, VA M5’ers

With the keys to my S2 beastie soon to be in my hands (and let me tell u if u ever get to hear the car without its cats, exhaust and mufflers on – OH MY – saw it in bits at my dealership and they were moving it around and good God did it sound like King Kong)

I am seriously considering a hard installation of the valentine -1 and its various stealthy gizmos and adapters

Now I would rather not give my car to the chaps at best buy or circuit city

Have any of you done such a hard wired front and rear install and then added the display modules for the nav screen and display on the dash.

if so

where did you do it and would you recommend that I visit them
what did u pay?
what did u add
what did you have for breakfast that day?
what is your favorite color etc…

I am off on a road trip (NOT WITH MY CAR but a soon to be “gone muddin” 7 series loaner) and when I get back I will be back in black – so the sooner I get the V-1 the sooner I can avoid the car being impounded and my license revoked.

Thanks chaps

Any help would be great

See you in jail or in the mud

M5Mark

Do the V1 hardwire install. If you are not comfortable w/ a DIY install then bring it to a high-quality auto-sound shop. You should be able to find instructions on the Board.

But don't bother w/ the V1 remote install. Instead, get a StealthOne module so it displays on the OBC. It's awesome.. steering wheel mute, very stealthy. I will be visiting DC soon if you want to meet up I'll show you my setup. Also, would love to check out your S2.

The stealthone is a 1.5 hour install, tops. Make sure you have a nice flat head screwdriver, and a nice set of ratchets .

I had to drive my car home 300 km with open pipes after the cats. A shop screwed up my exhaust in serious way. Holey smokes that was loud. I was going deaf. Had to fix the Tubi install myself. But point was, I did lots of shifting and whatnot, driving home like that. I'm sure I entertained a few guys with the noise, but it wasn't fun. Very undignified for a beast.

Get the Stealth One with the valentine.

DO NOT allow anyone to chop up the v1 to make a 'fully integrated' install.

Install is pretty easy- plenty of posts here and elsewhere on the process- including pictures. Basically run one wire, tap two wires, plug stuff in...

it's a very easy install for both the Stealth one and v1. You shouldn't have to pay anybody to do it.

I understand the Stealth One install -- is there a "stealthy" install for a complete V1 without going the piecemeal approach? In this area, having the clunky V1 attached to the windshield isn't the wisest approach!

I heartily endorse the V!/StealthOne combo (and DIY), and have had the VI on the windshield for years. It's nestled b/t a sunglass holder and a garage door remote, and has not been noticed, even though I've been pulled over a number of times. I've even had a cop in the passenger window, his nose less than a foot away from it. (The reasons I've been pulled over have either been unrelated to speed or a laser tag.)

Since the V1 really doesn't help much with lasers, beyond letting you know you're screwed, some have installed the unit in the break in dectector in the roof dome. You lose laser (and the break in dectector, I think), but reportedly radar detection is not much affected.

What I'm stuck on is a laser jammer installer. I'd like to get the Blinder M20, but don't know who'd install it in the DC area. Any suggestions?

Ah, VA...

There is a rear center headrest install (insert the V1 inside) as well as an "under the headliner" install. Don't know off hand where these are thread wise...
