R.E. M5 destroyed & one life taken

Quoted, without permission, from the L.A. Times of 01/07/17:

Med Student Dies From Injuries in Car Accident

A fourth-year UCLA Medical School student who was hit earlier this month by an alleged drunk driver on Sepulveda Bvld. near Valley Meadow Road died over the weekend, authorities said Monday.

Sukey Egger, 32, who also held a doctorate in clinical psychology, died Saturday at UCLA Medical Center from injuris she suffered July 9, when her Nissan Sentra was hit by a BMW driven by an alleged drunk driver, said LAPD Lt. Steven Allen. The accident occured on Sepulveda Bvld. near Valley Meadow Road.

The BMW driver, a 26-year-old man whose name was not available, was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.

End of article.

Looks like the LAPD will be adding 2nd degree murder to Drunken M5 Speed Racer Guy's rapsheet. Further, if the article is to be believed, the candle that he snuffed was a very bright one, even if the victim could only afford a Nissan. Perhaps all her money went into getting an education, instead of a fast car and alcohol.

The crime committed here is no different than taking out a gun and shooting someone, just anyone, who happens to be coming along the street.

This is a tragedy. Rich M5 guy is a piece of ****, and should be made to spend a long time in prison for what he has done.

Prayers to the victim & kin.

I'm actually a big proponent of capital punishment. But that aside, it's terrible that what sounds to be such a wonderful person was taken by suck a f**king idiot.

My condolences to the family.

Oh that is horrible... I was hoping that the Nissan driver survived!!!
YES!! That M5 driver should be put in Jail for life. Disgrace to M5 owners or even BMW owners.

Condolences to the family.

Very sad news! My condolences to Ms. Egger's family. This was her last year of medical school! I hope she did not leave any small children behind.

Equally shocking is that the M5 driver was under the influence during the daytime. I've not heard of drunk-driver accidents occuring during the daytime. He probably had a couple of beers with his friends at a restaurant, they must have got into the car and then he began to show off the car's power by speeding. Maybe he was weaving in and out of lanes or maybe Ms. Egger changed lanes abruptly while he was approaching quickly in the fast lane which left no room for accident avoidance especially for someone who had had two or three beers---WHAM!---One person dead and the other arrested on a felony.

Pity.

Terrible news. My condolences to the victim's family. I'm sure the M5 owner must be totally distraught. One life lost, one life ruined. And probably all because of a casual lunchtime drink!

Angry Has nothing to do with the car

All,

This has nothing to do with the M5. This guy could have been driving a pickup truck and caused the same accident. Do not confuse the issue here, it is the person and not the type of car that causes these terrible accidents.

Throw this guy in jail and throw away the keys. What a waste of a life. There is no way you can repay the family for this loss.

What a terrible waste of life!

Maybe this gives some perspective to DUI we had some time ago.

Not that this point really matters much, but how do we know that it was an M5??? The article said that the guy was driving a BMW. It didn't specify the point. Admittedly, this question is virtually insignificant compared to the magnitude of the real issue at hand. But I couldn't suppress my curiousity.

livenupe.

There was a previous thread on this and the photograph clearly shows it was an M5. Do a search on 'Sepulveda' to find it.

I don't think anyone has confused any issues here. What you have written is correct. However, the M5 certainly should be considered a contributing factor (and no doubt will be in court). The vehicle was purported to be traveling in excess of 100 mph on a city street prior to the impact.
