Just Spoke to Nowack....

I just spoke to Oliver Nowack to confirm my visit to his facility. He informed me that he is presently awaiting the arrival of two US spec M5 motors (from customer in South East) that he will modify and reship to the US. One is for a regular E39 M5 and the other for an X5 (wow!)....same customer. He has a dummy E39 body that he uses specifically for "engine only-shipped" modifications. He does the ECU mapping, manifold and exhaust tuning....he then dismantles and reships the unit back to its owner for local installation.

I'll have full details for you immediately upon my return.......

Sean,
very cool. Please inform us of your findings with Nowack.

Not only would Darth Vader have your car, he would probably have it modified by Nowack, AC and Dinan, and of course it would come with a spare lightsaber

powerful the dark side is!

Sean,
at least they didnt stick you with the M mobility light saber patch the rest of us have- you get a whole spare saber! A handy addition if you ever run into Darth Maul.

Seriously, if you get a red/black interior you could have a Darth Maul vehicle

Fernando.....for now I'm still contemplating! I want to visit Nowack so I can get a better sense of if I should do or not. If I do, it would definetely be the N500. Cost of shipping the motor should be less than a $1,000 (one way). I know that the cost of shipping the entire car is in the $2,500 plus neighborhood. The best opportunity is for an aftermarket BMW specialist to do the engine extract and re-install.

Hutzal,

Costs for engine mod is approx DEM40,000 (USD $17.6k based on prevailing FX). It includes:

- NOWACK exclusive special sports-camshafts
- completely prepared cylinderheads (in and outlets)
- optimization of air-intakes (RAM-air) and air flow
special sports-air-filters (2x)
- NOWACK exclusive complete sports exhaust system incl. stainless steel headers and stainless steel rear mufflers
- optimization of engine software including V-max. de-limitation (rev. limiter increased up to 7.700 rpm).

These numbers includes labour but excludes shipping!

Sean
