Black Kidney Grilles ???

Hello all,

My beast is in the shop right now getting some hail damage fixed (about 25 small dents and getting front bumper/hood repainted for good measure), so while it's under the knife, I've decided to do a couple modifications:

#1 - I'm painting the rear diffuser area a flat black color to set it off from the rest of the car (had the same look on my previous G35 coupe and loved it)

#2 - I'm going to go with the black kidney grilles - two ways of going about this: 1) purchase the complete replacement grilles (ie Bimmian) or 2) purchase the grille covers (ie BavAuto/Hamman) - I like this look better because it keeps the ****s a shiny color that contrasts the black instead of all flat like the complete replacement... however, has anyone tried these? they told me at BavAuto that they stick on with 3M tape, how durable is this going to be and how is the final product going to look?

If anyone can post pics of what the complete replacement grilles look like vs the grille covers, I would greatly appreciate it!

On a side note, I've seen pics on the board of stock wheels painted black with silver/polished lips... but does anyone have a picture of them (or any black face/polished lip wheel for that matter) on a Ti Si beast? Thanks again!

You better get us some pics of you car - before and after surgery!

Thanks for the pics - after seeing those, I think that's a little too much for my tastes, so I think I'm going to just refinish the wheels all one color (similar to stock but maybe a shade or two darker)...

On the topic of the kidney grilles, I went ahead and just ordered the BavAuto grille covers (on sale now for only $49) so hopefully they'll look good!

The grill made my car look excellent (my m5 is blk/blk). The most inexpensive modification that quite possibly adds the most aggressive look.

It's really a matter of preference. I thought I would like it but after putting it on for a short time, I ended up taking it off.

BTW, mine was painted glossy black which IMHO looks better than matte black.

I guess I'll have to wait until I see it in person before I decide whether or not to paint them gloss black - the rear of the car is being painted a special black that has a plastic effect to it and hopefully the grilles/trim/rear being painted all kinda blend together with the same shade/texture....

I guess we'll see! Thanks for the pictures and the advice...

The Hamann Grill covers are crap. I had one blow off in a sand storm! Better to buy replacement black grills like Bimmian.
