Single OEM wheel, or 4 After market?

I bent the right front rim on my '03 M5. It is unrepairable. My other 3 wheels have mild curb-rash. (I bought the car that way)

Should i spend $500 to replace the single bent rim with an OEM one, or $500 to 600 and replace all my wheels with aftermarket M parallel copies and have 4 shiney new wheels. I have a set of copies for my winter wheels, they look pretty good, just wonder about the strength in the long run. It took a pretty good hit to bend the OEM and it still held air.

What would you do?

I broke my rt front rim on a pothole. Major dent and split. Tire was undamaged, believe it or not.

I used the opportnity to purchase two rear wheels and went to 275s on all 4 corners. (I found used, but never mounted wheels for $350 and 375 ...507 at the dealer.)

For $500 for 4 new 'aftermarket' wheels, what kind of quality would you get? Only thing I would use them for is a temporary spare...

That's what I did....

Depends on how important cosmetics are to you. If you buy 4 fresh wheels, you will spend about $1800, sell the other 3 for about $500, so net out of pocket is $1300. And you have a brand new set. Or if you can stand the bling, buy one used front, $200, and swap for a chromed set about $600, total $800.
If you already have a set of replicas, you are in the best position to judge their strength. They are just as strong whether they are holding your summer tires or winter tires.
Regards,
Jerry

I just came across a single front rim that you can have for $150. It has a bit of curb rash but is straight. Also is missing the roundel. The finish seems to be pretty bright though, although I haven't had it next to my wheels yet.

A difficult situation because if you purchase 1 brand new rim, it will be nice and shiney against 3 other dull older rims. On the other hand replica wheels are not very reliable, they bend very easily, much easier than stock wheels. Personal experiende warrants my negative outlook on replica wheels. ard seemed to have a good alternative to purchasing 4 new wheels. Good Luck!

Jerry, where do I get 4 new BMW wheels for $1800? I was looking at bmwwheels.com - is there a better source?

Just an estimate based on past postings. BMWwheels is relatively close, $1950. Of course, if you can get another $100 or so for the old ones (including the bent rim which I included at $0), the net difference is still around the same. Also, check with dealers who offer discounts. There is a current thread about dealer discounts.
Regards,
Jerry
