I mounted a pair of 10" subs and an amp under the rear deck firing into the passenger compartment a couple years ago. Here's a thread where I describe the installation along with pictures:
M5 Subwoofer Installation
I had DSP but not M-audio in my '00, but it would work just as well with M-audio cars. One of my posts in the thread describes what wires to tap into for the signals.
I wouldn't call my setup an enclosure, although I suppose it could be considered a very small enclosure with large ports. Really it's an infinite baffle (free air) setup. This makes the best use of space and has good frequency response and accuracy, but won't get quite as loud as a system with an optimal enclosure could. It's plenty loud enough though, the rest of the stock system can't quite keep up with it as it is (starts distorting before the subs do even with it equalized a bit bass heavy).
It's sealed quite well to the rear deck, and plenty of Dynomat was used to tame vibrations. Some air could leak around the fold down seats even when they are up, but I have not found that to be a problem. It takes some doing to get rid of vibrations and rattles, but it's possible. The rear sunshade is the trickiest part. If I want to play it real loud I just put the sunshade up and the problem goes away. Someone suggested using electrical tape where the sunshade rests to stop those vibrations, but I haven't tried it yet.
If you search you'll find other threads where people have done similar things and discussed eliminating vibrations, etc. Definitely a worthwhile mod.
