Injector flowing

On another thread BMWDCTR had me thinking on this again. I've always wondered why nobody has the injectors flow rate checked.
I know I'm spoiled with having a flow machine at my finger tips.
It just seems that with all the money that is thrown into these cars it is on topic I've never seen in the few years here.

So there now another can of worms to add next to the oil threads

OK you got me curious about this so you know you're gonna be in trouble
Is this a simple thing to check? What kind of flow are we looking for with our cars? I need some basic knowledge here LOL

Well truth be told I had this huge debate with myself whether to just tease the heck out of you or try being serious, so you better watch out 'cause my serious part doesn't stay around for long.

OK that does it---flow meter?? That sounds like something you'd find on a beer tap or something, not at a work place. First you're getting a Lazy Boy for work, now this

Okay I'll bite seeing that you opened the door........Riddle me this: Has anyone ever thought of changing the injectors themselves with larger ones???kinda like going to bigger bore throttle bodies....would that increase power or just burn more gas???

Unless you can increase the air flow dramatically, the injectors probably deliever enough fuel to maximize power- the dme and o2 sensors will adjust to achieve the proper AF ratio... the supercharged cars here all need modified injectors- piggy back systems or larger injectors.

There are a few guys here I would bet with knowledge, but why would they give it away for free?

Thats it, I knew someone would ask that.
Sometimes you need more fuel with more air.
Bigger injectors to a point, different spray patterns, different pressures.
You don't want to max out duty cycles of a injector.
Why not add pressure then cut back pulse timing?

I haven't pulled a set to play with but I do have alot of different Bosch versions around the machine. OH! and some REAL big Motorcrafts..

Hey gang, the short answer from me is: "I don't know". But it seems to me that 1) If it were that easy to add power, it would've been done and poplular by now; 2) The engine management software takes stock injectors into account, anything else would throw it all askew; and 3) The injectors don't flow so much as pulse. I don't think a flow meter would be relevant...unless it were on a beer tap

In Southern California our fuel suppliers have a problem with keeping the tanks clean. Plus the gum build up from the reversion can effect the injectors spray and flow.
Yes the ECU can work around this to some point.

With a stock injector making 400hp if one was to throw the whole summit catolog at it and get the HP up to 500hp. That now a 25% increase which pushes most stock injectors to the duty cycle limit.
Now not knowing the injector flowrate yet this is just guessing.
