Cats from Evosport

Came in the mail today - Small and light! They go into the car next tuesday and hopefully SES goes away. I like the weight savings already! Supposedly good for about 10HP - I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Good luck, Mark! Hopefully they will clear your SES light.

Any chance you can dyno numbers pre and post cats, that's a good way to test Evosport's hp gain claim...

Thanks Cosio - im hopeful. The shop that I went to (independent, and actual mechanics) verified that the cat is actually bad. I don't know of any local shops with dyno services and I think the numbers would be sku'd anyway. I am down power due to the engine being leaned out because of the cat issue. It is entirely plausible that I am down hp - if the evosport fix that and add hp I could see an extra 20... Butt dyno would feel that for sure!

My friend bought a 2000 beast recently and he has only a month left before the CPO warranty expires. Last month he went to the dealer for what he hoped was his last waranty service and turned out they had to replace one of his cats (among a few other minor items). They did that under coverage. This weekend we noticed that the other cat has a hole in it and has gone bad too. Now he hopes he can go back to the dealer and have them replace the second one as well. Considering he's got 3-4 weeks left, it might be an uphill battle, but surely they must have seen that both cats needed replacement, but chose to cheap skate their way out of covering both thinking he is not gonna bother checking the car for the last month of coverage... And he's got 53K miles, which frankly is not all that for both cats to go bad (half of the time, the car was driven in good Cali weather)...

I don't know if you're in California like I am, or what the laws are in your state, but here the "Emissions Warranty" is much longer than the factory warranty or even the CPO warranty. The cats are covered for 7 years/70,000 miles. Not many people know about this and the dealer usually doesn't educate people on this, but it's worth a try...
