Service indicator went from 'all' green to 1 green overnight - computer glitch???

Got in the car this morning and started her up. Everything normal until I looked at the service indicator. It was all green on Friday and now its at ONE green! Is this a possible computer glitch? I've had the car for about 2500 miles (86K on car now) and it was all green when I got it. Just as a precaution I had my local independent change the oil when I got it here to Seattle and he confirmed that it looked close to new. He did not reset the indicator (I asked him not to.)

Has anybody else had something like this happen?

The service indicator is "adaptive" meaning is counts down according how the car is being driven.

Were you driving it hard prior to your start up this morning?

Only 'normal' driving in the last couple of days - nothing unusual. I could see dropping a couple of bars after a weekend at the track but not from ALL to ONE (green.)

Unless you racked up 5k hard miles on your car in the last couple days, I don't see how you can go from full green SII, to 1 SII in a couple days of easy driving. Sounds like some type of glitch/gremlin - Good Luck keep us posted on the turnout

I will say that I was a little skeptical of the SII as it had not gone down at all in 2500 miles and there were PLENTY of triple digit blasts and near redline shifts in that time span (gotta test out the new car you know. ) I would have expected it to start dropping segments before now.)

Does someone have a pic of what this looks like and/or give a quick rundown of how it works?

Down on the left of your dash display, where the SES or check engine light is. there is also a dimly lit oil sevice bar. It only turns on and is dimly lit (5 segments?) at turn on, then it shuts off. The number of lit segments indicates remaining oil lifespan, according to computer modelling. It has a greenish area and a red area, the red bars to indicate that you have exceeded the service interval reccomendation time period (over the 'service oil' mileage point reccomendation).

This information should also be in the car's original manual.

VIOLA!!! Got in the car tonight leaving work and its back to all green. I have no idea what is going on but it looks like I better start keeping track of the mileage when I get it serviced, as I am now REALLY skeptical of the SII. Does BMW publish an actual service interval, based on mileage?
