bluetooth - oem vs eis/argos

Hi,

I apologize if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find anything conclusive by doing a search.

Just wondering what the conclusion is on the merits of the oem bluetooth kit versus the eis one. Seems that the eis kit is finally available now and several members of the board have had it installed, but I haven't heard about the pros/cons of it versus the oem version.

thanks,

I can tell you I am very happy with the BMW ulf unit I got from Martin at bimmernav for my 2001 m5. It was a bit pricey, but works as described and was a simple install. My Mot razr works perfect. I like the idea of having OE.

They use the same OEM part, so there shouldn't be any difference. Martin from BimmerNav sells the latest BT ULF which is the 522 while EIS sells the 552 (1st Gen ULF model). I have both on the X5 and M5 and don't really see any quality difference.

The only good thing with the 522 is that it supports SMS but not all phones support BT SMS. The 552 is cheaper compared to the 522.

Hope this helps.

I can't speak to the difference between the eis and bimmernav, but I just purchase the Bimmernav unit (www.bimmernav.com) for my 03 M5 last week. I installed it this past weekend, and it works great. I can't say enough good things about Martin's service. He answered all of my pre-purchase questions very promptly, shipped immediately, and even walked me through portions of the install on a Sunday morning.

Thanks Martin!
