Break-in of UUC 11" clutch package?

I took my beast in today to have my new UUC stage three clutch and flywheel put in. I am also having the DSSR and Evo 3 short shifter put in.

How long do I have to go easy on the car before I can try its new components out?

Most will say that 500 miles is proper break in? IMO I went 1000miles for proper break in period. Drive normally, easy/low rpm shifts often. I read some where on this board that BMW recommends 800 - 1000 shifts? for proper break in? I'm not sure about anyone else but, I'm not going to count shifts

Rob told me that it should be babied to 500 miles, I´m at 1000 miles now.

My car is at the shop now, there are strange noises coming from the clutch and it seems to be slipping during hard acceleration shifts. The noises are coming both during normal cruising and during the hard acceleration shifts/slipping.

Bummer.

I have sent recordings of the noises to Rob but haven´t received an answer yet on what the problem might be.

Just my opinion ... after a few clutches over the years (none in the M5, yet ... 38,000 miles so far with no problems).

I would drive mostly in the city ... for 600 miles. I would rev normally (for me), but ... BUT, NEVER ACCELERATE UNTIL the clutch if fully engaged (as in foot off the pedal).

1000 miles of various roads. For the first 500 miles I'd go real easy no going above 3k rpms or taking off hard. Going through red lights and up and downshifts a good bit. I would NOT go out on the highway and chill for a 1000 miles though.

I've e-mailed both of you guys, last week and today. Looks like we have an intermediate spam filter of server problem catching the messages.

Thordur, you ordered one of our competition clutches... odd noises may occur during break-in with the exotic materials.

I e-mailed you an additional break-in procedure the other day and just sent it again.

Got mail from Rob regarding the additional break-in procedures that I will try out when I get the car back.

I somehow am not convinced that the clutch surface is the culprit in the noises I get when cruising since the clutch is fully hooked up.

The mechanics think that the noises may be coming from the gearbox and that maybe the fluids I got with the kit result in more noise. Rob has assured me that that is not the case.

Maybe my gearbox is going?

Here are the recordings - maybe you guys can help me diagnose this.
(please ignore the wrong white balance and dirty lens - was only thinking about sound )

First the whining/grinding noise during acceleration - it can be heard just after shifting into 2nd and 3rd.

http://www.onno.is/thordur/m5/UUC/clutch_acceleration_noise.wmv

Second is the noise or rattle I get when cruising under light load and also
when transitioning from/to load:

Any help and insights would be appreciated.

I'm thinking a heat shield may have been bent during installation. Easy fix, but you have to get under the car and see if you can find the point that is vibrating.
