passenger side mirror gets stuck...

I have a 2000 M5, and every now and then when I flip the mirrors up to show off or park in my garage the passenger one stays in the "up" position until I turn the car off and on again..then it works fine. I had the motor swapped out at the dealership so I doubt that the problem. any ideas?

Do a search - there are several threads on this.

The mechanism is slightly weak (plastic cogs), possibly by design so as to prevent damage in the case of an impact or resistance, so it is a common problem.

Consensus is that judicios use of the hand, either as a gently support to the motor or as a good hearty thump does the trick.
