very nice and i have to agree that at times you have to keep it at low rpm's to keep her tame but once she opens up it's game over or shouldi say move over kinda sound i used to scare people walking on the side walk but i had to tame LoLa down and gain a bit of back pressure, now she sounds more refined and alot more deeper (cops even gave me a thumbs up the other day)...Congrats again

The only RPM zone that sort of works is at 1,500rpm and no forward throttle.
If I've got to keep up with the traffic I'm in trouble as soon as 2,000k comes it's very loud and deep.

Here's some action of the ute being driven by Paul Stokell at Phillip Island.
We got some good sound bites from the Ute hammering by us on the main straight.
Sounds miles better then what the camera records.
I just uploaded it so I'm not sure if it's there yet?

Sorry about the in-ute vid.
I was going to but it always looks slow, unless it's a real race car running serious laps.
Do you guys know when the measure the M5's weight in the spec sheet if it's a dry weight or if not what fluids do they add.
I had the ute in for a 4 point alignment and the guy at the race shop said it was the straightest chassis he'd ever seen for a street car (1mm out) and the corner squareness was on 2mm out, so near perfect.
The corner weighed the ute and it's total weight with a full tank was 1919kg (4,200lb)
The corner weights without a driver
LF = 459kg (1,010lb)
RF = 508kg (1,117lb)
LR = 487kg (1,071lb)
RR = 466kg (1,025lb)
Front half of ute = 967kg (2,127lb)
Rear half or ute = 953kg (2,096lb)
So as you can see that 2,111lb on each half would have it at exactly 50/50 in balance.
It's only 15lb too heavy on the front and 15lb too light on the rear.
So my top of head math has that at 50.75% on the front and 49.25 on the rear.
With a 100kg (220lb) driver in the ute (not my exact weight more like 88kg (195lb)
it came in at
LF = 474kg (1,043lb)
RF = 546kg (1,201lb)
LR = 499kg (1,098lb)
RR = 503kg (1,107lb)
Once the solid sized driver was added the rear corners weigh in at about the exact weight.
The front right weight is a bit high, but what you going to do with the driver stuck out there on the side of the ute .
Front half of ute = 1,020kg (2,244kg)
Rear half of the ute 1,002kg (2,205lb)
This time it's only 20lb out from 50/50 front to rear.
Not sure how much of the rims matter V's OEM in weight, but that would have added a few kg's/lb's
Plus the rear sub floor strenght that was added.

Can I use some of the pics you have posted and reference some of your build postings for an article on the building of your ute I would like to write for my website (CARSofAUSTRALIA.com.au).
Well done with your ute.....just sensational......as an owner of a modified Beemer I appreciate what you have done even more !!!!
Hi Gully
I've got no problem with you doing a little bit of a story on the ute's build.
I personally won't verbally contribute to the article, but there's probably enough content on the M5 site or from this thread to fill content.
