I've not seen it in the flesh yet, so I don't know how it actually looks, but my guy is very happy, and he's been more then right once in this project..

My math has this costing much more then a brand new M5.
in AUD$ maybe north of 300K (USD$250+)
With over 2,000 hours of work there's AUD$150k just in shop time.

I got some comprehensive insurance coverage (based on use of only 3 days per week) and for a price of AUD$250K it runs a pretty cheap AUD$1,800 for the year.

I could use it every day for this deal as that lets me have 150+ days a year of use, and I won't be there for more then 120 a year.... perfect.

"PGA member Stuart Appleby will be doing some driving of a different kind this week when he attends the annual Deniliquin Ute Muster in country NSW. The eight time US Tour winner will unveil a bizarre modified BMW M5 at the event, a project he undertook two years ago and will be on show this weekend. Apparently Appleby was looking at his M5 one day when he decided it would look good as a ute so he engaged the services of a specialist vehicle modifier, Southern Rod and Custom, to make the changes. The project has taken the best part of two years and received mixed reviews but Appleby says he is looking forward to appearing at the ute muster and talking about his unusual car."

I would have 30 days spare during the year to keep the numbers up Stu.

Also just love the PGA "bizarre modified BMW M5".

M5 Ute is finished... many pics attached

Here are some pics I took of the ute as she rolled out of the shop last Thursday and some at the Ute Muster the following day.
The pics don't do it justice, it's looks way better for real then what I took on the Canon EOS 40D.

I'll post up some YouTube clips shortly (I will let the board know when) of it at idle and a small rev....In love with the sound.

It's not ready to drive yet, as we've got finishing things to do.
Suspension isn't ready, no power steering, and other things, so a month away.

I'll post many more but I got a "security token error" pop up from the board when uploading another bunch of 5 ....

Please try again...we need to see more!

The error message sounds like the images are probably a bit big. If you limit the number of pictures to 6-8 per post you should be fine.
